It's the right decision.

to let the virus run rampant? or to do nothing? either way it will run rampant and this government will do nothing as it tanks what they had hoped would be the return of tourism.  Som Nam Na, unfortunately the ones paying the price are the citizens.  The government have been feeding at the trough and can sustain many more hits.

Ivermectin is this available in Thailand a lot of people using for preventive care

https://www.fda.gov/consumers/consumer-updates/why-you-should-not-use-ivermectin-treat-or-prevent-covid-19 .

There was a flurry of adjunct clinical trials/investigations involving ivermectin in many places around the world including Thailand. Claims of efficacy were initially  common but several papers that got published have been withdrawn and the subject has gone quiet since in same way as the famous malaria medication touted by a high profile individual.

Despite that the following link which while it does suggest some validity is also subject to more retrospective analysis related to a natural peak in community spread among the most vulnerable and susceptible..

Yesterday it was OK to have a wine with dinner, Today, the Government has decreed that

the anti alcohol lobby wishes to advise that you may catch the virus from alcohol.

But to allow millions of Songkran revellers to travel around Thailand (most returning tomorrow & Sunday does not spread the virus.

Nor does buying alcohol from the favoured ones 7/11 & having a party

Are these guys capable of thinking anything through ? as at present it is all coming from the hip, which is stupid

So as the virus numbers increase everyday and the hospitals fill up with folks needing serious assistance with respirators, and the ASQ hotels are put into play, it has become a money maker for them in other words.  Nice to see that money trumps the livelihoods of many that have now been possibly infected and will be isolated in a facility and unable to work.  Roll out the fricking vaccination program, and start to act as if you care Anutin.

Seems like coverment chest is empty! Last year needed only few case's and they lock down hole country and ban alcohol sell! Now seems like nobody give a F! If dont have money why buying stupid submarines! Its more important to them than peoples well being.

In a nutshell yes, just like it was important to buy an aircraft carrier and have no aircraft to fly from it, now or in the future.  They just wanted one so had to buy it, plus of course the syphoning of of the inflated budget for distribution amongst themselves.

never believe anything from this buffoon; 'for the time being' means they can change it in a minute, which means what he said meant absolutely nothing;

More of the same then?

Simple, they and the wealthy have now been vaccinated and feel safe the rest are expendable.

It's not just that. Statistically drunk people are more likely to end up in hospital thus putting more strain on already stretched services.

So punish everybody who drinks because of a few "drunks"? That's like banning all cars because of a few bad drivers!

Exactly..those unlucky enough to suffer full blown symptoms will require 24 hour care/7 days a week..1500 cases a day(we know of)and next week?Nurses and physicians are not robots..ventilator's are not a dime a dozen(unless you are Hi So and can afford)so there is no shadow of a doubt thousands will miss out on critical/specialist care. The very thought of already seeing victims families in Brazil fighting over oxygen tanks to treat victims at home sends shivers through the body.Stay Safe!

Yes, some of the horror stories emerging out of Brazil are truly frightening.

Some hospitals have run out of anaesthetic and have had to intubate patients by restraining them.

A nurse described it as torture.

I have no idea of Thailand's capabilities but this is not a disease you want to run wild.

The "it's only been two weeks" is absurd.

All that means is that it is just starting to ramp up... precisely when you need to contain it.

And the Samut Sakhon outbreak was in December.

It never went away after that.

Anyway, what's going on in Brazil.

An ex-army general and a bridge builder for a health minister... feeling the strain of running a country...

Sounding like Schools are now closed, a psuedo curfew in place starting at 2300 hours with everything closed from 11pm to 4am., all bars, pubs, karaoke etc. closed.  Of course maybe my hearing isn't so good.  Better wait until it is put in writing.

No, the government wont but I bet the provinces do.  Burriram will probably be the first  with all the others slowly following afterwards.

Isnt that what happened at the beginning of this pandemic but the government took the credit??

Don't forget the submarines or the PM's personal airliner too, or the additional 11 million baht upgrade to the toilets onboard of it.

yikes, let the ridiculous war on alcohol continue

Yeah.  Given the Thai elites (prohibitionist) war on alcohol you'd think that SARS-Cov-2 literally breeds in beer and whiskey.

President Jair Bolsonaro has told Brazilians to "stop whining" about Covid-19, as he criticised measures to curb the virus despite a surge in cases and deaths.

His comments came a day after Brazil saw a record rise in deaths over a 24-hour period.
