LINE chat circulated at the weekend a complete fabrication – US Embassy

The LINE chat between someone, said to be a US Embassy official, and a Thai political activist, is a complete fabrication and the US government is not funding or providing support to any protest groups in Thailand, according to the U.S. Embassy’s spokesperson, Nicole Fox.

Earlier today (Tuesday), a group of protesters, calling themselves “The peoples of Thailand” rallied at the US Embassy in Bangkok, to protest against alleged interference in Thailand’s internal affairs by, what the protesters claim, are embassy officials.

The protest followed a social media post, circulated over the weekend of April 17th and 18th, purporting to show a LINE chat between a former U.S. Embassy official and a Thai political activist.

Folks are saying that Thailand is of little interest to the US anymore. Perhaps it is not as important economically. However, politically, I would think the US is VERY interested in limiting the influence of China in the region. Thailand is in China's pocket, obviously, but that could change...

Does anyone else find it ironic that Communists have a very unfavorable view of royalty of any sort, yet the nationalist, royalist, Thai government loves them? Well, not that ironic actually.

the usa does and has, for a LONG time interfered in other countries internal affairs; ever hear of the CIA ? so what, no effect here

They are not alone or do you only know how to refer to the USA (not usa), or CIA? CAPS (Your reference to LONG), denotes shouting, which does nothing in this case.

Ok but is it true in this case?

handed a protest letter to an embassy official.

Is the letter available?

Some old-timers like Sondhi Limthongkul (sprung from jail on a pardon) have been whipping up the minions lately. He did chime in on the Streckfuss affair, defaming him by calling him a CIA asset.

Back in the old days, the regime welcomed the support of  the U.S. to defeat "communism" and support/elevate the monarchy. For some reason these rabid minions choose to ignore history.

Blaming outsiders, and the oft-mentioned "Black-hand(s)", is easy for the current regime. I guess it might keep the peasants confused and angry at someone other than the "government"?

There are a few here that have supported this conspiracy theorist lunatic and used his vendetta against Thaksin as a reason to support two coups and the current regime.

Some of them are too stupid to even know they were duped.

Loyalists. So, can they prove it? If not the USA should sue every single one of them for Defamation.

I have thought truth was not a defense in the legal system here; but the event does seem to be a bit of a joke (except to the participants).

As long as the US can, without hinderance and mandate, interfere worldwide in domestic affairs without being booted out of countries ......

The US foreign policy in general has been an absolve"*ç%"*çtelutey disaster since the Korean war in the early 50s and regretfully nothing has been learnt ever since.

The same people blame, i.e. the Russians (and in the past the Soviets) for interfering in US domestic politics and elections. Well, if if is that easy to stir the dirt within the USA for a foreign power, then the US might realign its ill-gotten resources from a hefty USD 700+ Billion defense budget for something more beneficial for mankind - me thinks!

Don't think Thailand is of any use to the USA any more.  Long gone are the days when they milked the yanks for money so that they could build bases to bomb the commies in Vietnam/Laos/Cambodia.  The reverse has happened now and the Thais are selling out to communist China at every opportunity. How the world changes.

So the USA lost "again"

So Americans always preach about democracy, and uphold every democracy movement out there. Yet they get <deleted> when a handful of dudes peacefully protest in front of their embassy in Thailand....

What kind of democracy is that?

Is it the kind of democracy that because some Thais take/took Yank money they waive the right to protest? Isn't that the exact same thing Americans criticize of other countries?

Go Yank Bash somewhere else

Have they been smoking some illegal mind altering substance or do they have proof of the CIA's involvement.  Good god conspiracy theorists are all over the place.

It's a tried and tested strategy. the Thai government  doesn't like something the USA diplomats say, so they organise a protest by a dozen or so sttoges. They tell them it's a labour of love (nudge nudge, wink, wink), so they get all the usual suspects out to read something that someone in the government wrote for the occasion.

Juvenile? Certainly, but this is Thailand, one doesn't expect rationality or common sense. "I say, you do".

So now people can’t protest in front of the Yank embassy then!

Maybe the Russian or the Chinese then!

I see how much democratic you guys are, between nothing and 0 ????

Once again proving that democracy is just the excuse and the facade to believe superior to everyone else….
