Hardly a surprise to many I think.   You really have to feel for the average Thai, being very badly let down by their government, with their snail like pace of vaccines roll out.

surely AstraZeneca are assisting in setting up this production facility

my guess is the delay is all about accounting and AZ are not playing ball - they are not Chinese

they must provide brown envelope

Delays are one thing but what about quality control and the pressure to cut corners and overlook things b/c of the slow roll out...that is the biggest concern and wouldn’t be reported if corruption and payouts are made...

Some times delays are a good thing if integrity is involved....

It is very unusual in Thailand that anything fall behind schedule as Thais are world renown for punctuality.

Oh how could there be a shortage of vaccines... we had it all under control.

one of the eastern provinces would penalize for not vaccinating. Now this can be an alternate source of income for the exchequer..

Yeah, maybe don't run with that argument.

Government spokesperson says the locally produced vaccine sucks and it's a good thing we couldn't distribute it. But don't worry, everything is fine now.

why do any of you take any notice of anything that is announced about the vaccines?

dont even bother reading it.

Just wait until the vaccines are actually available.

otherwise, it will just annoy you, so why bother?

Agreed. Would also help lower the BP.

But be honest, you did read the OP here, right.

Why all this gloating? The people are duped by maladministration.

Rather, I have more of a sense of compassion.

" Its Thai time as they say "  can't turn back now just continue with more deadlines and delays.????

Yes quite. The gov. are doing for vaccine news what TAT does for the tourism industry...lots of false hope then...'a big let down'. Sad.

Ahh, 13 more flip flop days between now and 7th June, life's too short to get bamboozled over Gov, "yes they will/ no they won't", daily headlines.

Playing with my dog, exercising, having a nightly Heineken is way more productive than getting grey hair over this nonsense.

AZ is being manufactured here in Bangkok, hence it will be in our arms sooner or later. Stay safe folks!

Second AZ dose 'after 16 weeks

So first dose in July and second dose in October??  Interesting?  Pfizer, 2 doses 21 days apart.  Moderna, 2 does 28 days apart.  J&J, one dose.  Anyway,TIT.

Yep, nowt wrong with Sinovac. Better to have some protection than none and so far, there haven't been any reports of negative reactions to it. Unlike some if the other brands out there

I feel even if there were negative effects from Sinovac, that you will not hear about it. They don't want negative results messing up the deals they have done already with the Chinese. It would also probably hurt some tourism and submarine business that is in the works for later. I will never use this Sinovac and I will stay at home until better choices are available in private hospitals. Even then you don't know what is really safe or not, only what they let you know about in the news seems to control most things these days.

Sure there will be a minister or Czar along soon  to reinforce the importance of registration for the now very common placebo vaccine of fresh air available from any government minister in huge abundance ????

At a price!

Millions of Thais over 60 are registered with vaccination services and expecting their shots in May. With the latest developments, there are no promises as to when they will get it.

Well, with 7 days left in May, that would be the first correct statement in a while.

I'd even steer clear of that. You never know if a drunk policemen might shoot you instead of the noodle vendor.

Predictable. That means its Sinovac for us ????

Sinovac is effective as well. Some people I know prefer this over AZ. also about to be approved in Europe.

If this wasn't such a serious life threatening topic . It would be amusing but it is embarrassing for the flip flop party and him that shall not be named. Total cluster F. From the start .Thailand was  just very lucky with the first and second wave. Nothing to do management and planning

I wonder how many more covid-related deaths there will be purely due to the government delay in supplying the vaccine.

I would guess soon it will take over from traffic fatalities as a major source of death.

I'm sure that's not their plan is it - less population therefore less vaccine required?

Yes, that's really about the size if it.

My issue is that I have heard very little about the production from Siam Bioscience.  Has it been tested on people here in Thailand?  And if there are issues why the big announcements concerning registration on 7-June.  So I am not surprised.  It is difficult for any factory to ramp up production.  But I would really like to plan out what to do.  I was going for the AstraZeneca sooner then the Pfizer or Moderna via private hospital maybe in December.  But maybe I should just go back to the US and get this done properly.  I just don't know what the truth is.

Half of nothing is still nothing.  So again where are the vaccines they are using coming from Again?

Probably they are producing lots of them but exporting is more beneficial than giving vaccines free of charge to own people.

100% agree with you on this one.  I have started planning  my Los Angeles Vaccination trip.  It looks like plenty of options.  Some of the local pharmacies in my old neighborhood have all three(Pfizer, Moderna, or J&J).  The only thing  I am concerned about is the coming back to LOS part(did quarantine once this year and would prefer not to do it again).

Just about every TV member predicted this shambles months ago and its the people who are suffering as a result of their complete ineptitude, absolutely disgusting.

Actually, I believe it's Astra Zeneca, not Siam Bioscence, that is contractually obliged to provide the vaccines. That said, it did fail to live up to its contract with the EU so there's that.
