It would not help anybody here since a valid passport is required to leave the country.

One day after passport expires, doesn't visa terminate, become overstay and ejected from country?

Come home boys.  Get your free shots and a free Dunkin' Donut.

Read California offering lottery to people who get vaccinated

3 x $1.5. Million USD 10 x $50k USD... .. maybe the guys at the head office here should make offer on what seems as an overage in US.

What's the point of issuing passports that expire anyway ? Just another beaurocratic mess creating more troubles for people. If you for some reason become ineligible for travel legally, passport can be cancelled, if you die same thing...if you are still alive and not a felon restricted from travel, why expire your passport, which you duly qualified for in the first place ?

Yes, my now 17 year old son could have a passport with a baby picture on it for the rest of his life.

OK..valid point but the girls onn Soi 6 tell me I'm just as 'handsum' as when my pic was taken 10 years ago.

Seriously, with biometric advancements there's no real reason a photo should be the primary identifier for anyone down the line. The chip on the passport could be set to match whatever they slipstream into us via our bubble tea drinks. That's why I always say "mai sai KhaiMook "

You need a passport that is valid to travel and transit via commercial air for other countries as well.  Only way I could see this happening is entering the U.S. via the Mexican border or Canada. Although now that doesn't seem to be an issue any longer with the new administration... ????

Oh sure....Trump left so many holes on the fence....besides, most folks skipped the fence and just flew into the USA....easy peasy....????????????

Not only are there alot of holes, but the construction was sub-standard and he over paid to an astonishing degree. He is a terrible negotiator.

The US Embassy sent out an email alert this morning on the subject with the following information:

Location:  Thailand

Event:  U.S. citizens may directly return to the United States with certain expired U.S. passports.

If you are overseas and your passport expired on or after January 1, 2020, you may be able to use your expired passport to return directly to the United States until December 31, 2021.

You qualify for this exception if all the following are true:

You are a U.S. citizen.

You are currently abroad seeking direct return to the United States.

You are flying directly to the United States, a United States territory, or have only short-term transit (“connecting flights”) through a foreign country on your direct return to the United States or to a United States Territory.

Your expired passport was originally valid for 10 years. Or, if you were 15 years of age or younger when the passport was issued, your expired passport was valid for 5 years.

Your expired passport is undamaged.

Your expired passport is unaltered.

Your expired passport is in your possession.

You do not qualify for this exception if:

You wish to depart from the United States to an international destination.

You are currently abroad seeking to travel to a foreign country for any length of stay longer than an airport connection en route to the United States or to a United States territory.

Your expired passport was limited in validity.

Your expired passport is a special issuance passport (such as a diplomatic, official, service, or no-fee regular passport).

Your expired passport is damaged.

Your expired passport is altered.

Your expired passport is not in your possession.

Please be advised that currently, routine passport processing in the United States can take 10-12 weeks.  If you need a passport in less than 10-12 weeks due to international travel plans, you can pay an additional $60 fee to expedite your passport, which will shorten the processing time to 4-6 weeks.

If your U.S. passport expired on or before December 31, 2019, please see our website for information on how to renew your passport before traveling:  https://th.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/ .

U.S. citizens be advised the waiver to travel to the United States on an expired U.S. passport has no bearing on your visa status in Thailand.  U.S. citizens must have a valid visa to travel to and remain in Thailand.  U.S. citizens should adhere to immigration laws and requirements outlined by the government of the Kingdom of Thailand.
