not anymore. My wifes sister did it for us the time before. This time they said no relatives. Also if possible they have to live within a few 100 feet of your home.

When mine was required (last year) it had to be someone of position, Pu Yai Baan, Government employee etc. No friends or relatives. They also have to produce ID/tabien baan/ full statement.

Best to ask the relevant office as requirements vary. (As always)

MMT this time ( Sept' ) after moving from Rayong where I did the last one. Neighbour in Rayong was accepted.

where are you?

I’m really dreading this - moving into a new region, then having to find two people (?) to witness. Will be my 5th extension, hoping that might count for something.

Check with your local office, witnesses are not required on "every" application in my experience.

My office requires them on the first one and at random thereafter. 2nd yr was nothing, was told next could be yr 3 or 5.

Offices and experiences vary.

ASK you office what they want.

You will apply for the one year extension based upon marriage at Chaeng Wattana immigration. MTT is only for 90 day reports and term extensions and such.

Chaengy Wattana does not require a witness.

Do people PAY witnesses? If they can't be friends or relatives what's their motivation to go through all the hassle?

Also, is there a site or a thread for people to report and track the varying location's requirements?

To date after 12 extensions, never had to produce a witness other than the wife.

No doubt this year will be different.

Where ?

Never had to do this at Jomtien

Do what  ?  provide a witness ?    they have wanted one from me every time at Jomtien.

Also was told at Jomtien that witness can't be a relative   but some one who knows you... they do ask the witness questions about you and wife  so someone just walking buy that day may not be such a good idea ! ????

We used a lady that I had never seen before but she lived three houses down from us in Nonthaburi.  We didn’t pay her but we did take her to lunch after she was finished at the immigration office.  Not sure why she did it, but she was an older that that was around the house all day anyways, so it was a change from the normal for her.
