INN reported from the head of the Police Cyber Taskforce Gen Damrongsak Kittipraphat about the PCT activities over the last two months.

Samrongsak, also a RTP deputy, said there had been 17 cases involving the arrests of 46 suspects, 2000 victims and one billion baht in losses.

Cases ranged from offences related to gambling on the Euro 2020 football tournament, to a Ponzi scheme online called "Ban Pee Mai" to a Romance Scam to prostitution.

The general said that the taskforce had been instructed by Thai premier Prayuth Chan-ocha and RTP chief Gen Suwat Chaengyodsuk to crack down on gambling and related offences during the delayed Euro tournament.

One high profile arrest was a man called Thanawich at a Ram Intra housing estate and the seizure of his assets and bank records. He appeared to be involved in gambling online after opening a Euro 2020 site.

But mostly INN relied on vinyl boards to try and explain the romance scam, ponzi scheme and one involving a man who had used the name of a celebrity on Twitter to promote a prostitution racket.

So why is this report about police simply doing their jobs ? Perhaps of the millions in Thailand who daily go about doing their jobs there should be a news report about them also ?

Pah theyre  stealing from each other everyday here, in looking  for two  workers through facebook I saw  loads of  employers  saying  staff ask for  money as they dont have the bus  fare to start the  new  job then they dont turn  up keeping the 1000 baht or  so they asked for in  advance. Literally 3-4 a  day  posted even with id  card s shown warning  people not to employ them.

The real problem here are the stupid people who fall for this obvious scams, simply because of one thing: greed.

Yes, greed and addiction.

Should Prayuth not be devoting his energy and mind to unravelling the ever increasingly urgent vaccine fiasco .. Thailand is a nation of gamblers from the cockfights to village lotteries to illicit bookie sites and everything in between so if he wants to do something about the populaces want to gamble there are plenty of other places to look also ..

Unfortunately it's not just greed but in some cases true desperation
