Actress Arisara “Due” Thongborisut saw her birthday fireworks spark a public outrage, with many taking to social media to call out her privilege. “This situation reminds me of the movie Parasite,” said one Tweet that went viral. “People in the upper-middle class are able to enjoy their fireworks from safety, while others below live in fear of the harm they might bring.”

Arisara’s Instagram stories from June 15 showed off a series of lavish birthday gifts and events, culminating in a three-minute firework display organized by her partner, businessman Sebastian Lee, at a resort near the Chao Phraya river around 10 pm. The public reaction was positive at first, with many rushing to the comments section to wish Arisara a happy birthday. But things turned sour when photos and videos taken by local villagers showed parts of the fireworks raining down from the sky, only just missing their roofs, and causing noise pollution.

This prompted complaints from netizens who condemned Arisara and Lee’s lack of consideration for the locals and other resort guests in flaunting their wealth. “I thought someone was getting bombed with all the noise,” wrote one Twitter user. “And look at the videos, it was just happening all so close to people’s homes. Someone’s house could have burned down — all so Due can have her three minutes of bliss.”

Hope he lasted longer than 3 minutes?

Some of the hoi-poloi here are pretty clueless.

I mean it's one thing for a spread in Tattler with your polo ponies, but some of these high end vloggers, oh my.

"Unboxing my new Bentley" goes over quite well. Not.

Thai "netizens" (nutizens?) are quick to jump on perceived or assumed status, but they tend to lay off the truly positioned. Kreung Jai?

I feel sorry that this show of envy and jealousy by these people whom complain will possibly mean she will have to change her name, perhaps Catherine Wheel would be nice

Pretty, but whoever trimmed those caterpillars eyebrows should be taken out back and beaten.

So the boats burning on the river that night were just Viking funerals?
