Thai woman fined 15,000 baht after posing in picture next to marijuana plants

In mgronline.com they reported that it was actually her bf who planted the marijuana there and got arrested and fined. She had to pay the bail and expected court fine.
Against the advice of her mother, the daughter claimed she thought the law had changed and it was now legal to grow the plants.
She was charged with manufacture and possession of a class 5 drug (marijuana).
According to Wiki:
"In 2018, Thailand became the first East Asian nation to legalize medical marijuana. The law permits and regulates the use of medical marijuana.
...Under the new law (2018), people with approved health conditions can use marijuana after getting a prescription from a certified physician. The new legislation prevents patients from exceeding and carrying on person the quantity of marijuana specified by their physician.
"
So they seem to have fallen foul of the medical use bit, presumably with no doctor's prescription.

In a country with real law, not one where the law is made up as they go along, a decent lawyer would have had all charges dropped.  You cannot rely on photographic evidence alone. A good photoshop operator good have made that photo - where is the evidence that it was actually weed? It could quite easily be Hemp.

No-one on here has questioned how the police discovered the photo. Are all our FB posts being tracked? Been plenty of reports of arrests over time of brain dead idiots advertising 'questionable' goods or services, or setting up road races.

This is Thailand someone would have given her up

Brings back memories of people who would take pics of their plants and send them to High Times magazine.  This was before digital cameras, internet, and legalization.  Sometimes the lad would bring the pics to the drug store to get the film developed and printed, and when he went to pick them up someone who's job it is to protect the public from such menace would be waiting for him.

Nothing special about her arrest, they grow marijuana for their own consumption and possibly sale.

Like all those others who post and then regret their actions.

You mean those charges that were all dropped when it was confirmed that those involved weren't gambling as first reported?

Yep. Finally nailed them on not paying tax on some deck of cards I think. Sheesh!

You think wrong, all charges were dropped.

Didn't an 80+ lady spend some time in the cells?

Don't know about an 80-year old+ woman, specifically, but I believe they were all arrested initially because of the suspicion that they were gambling (for money) so it's likely that they were detained overnight before bail was arranged and all the charges were dropped.
