Abject failure in life, and can not even make it as a monk.  The bigger question was he immediately defrocked and if so why call him a monk but not use, "A now former monk" in the story.  From his photo in the OP it looks like maybe the Monk was looking for that top pocket find.  Never seen a Buddhist robe with a pocket on the chest before.

And the even bigger question is: Were all his bad habits known before. No prizes for right answer.

Have you lost your job?  Had to sell your motorbike? Can't put food on the family table?  Become a monk for a few months; escape police charges.

Because he was a monk, and not a former monk, when the incident took place.

Clicking the link tells me he is now a former monk as he was defrocked following the incident.

He might just be doing the monk thing for a week or a month like allot of guys do once in their lifetime.

A Buddhist monk shouldn't have any girlfriend nor drugs.

It seems that there is no strict screening for being monks in Thailand.....

Aside from the monk having relations with the woman that meth is a nasty evil drug when you see reports of an especially cruel brutal behavior usually meth is behind it I hope the lady recovers physically and emotionally and the dirt bag dude gets defrocked and help with his addiction
