Spotted a one way Bangkok to to UK via Ams..for 150 quid...and although self isolation needed ...just bought a new flat ..can get the 2 Jabs on NHS almost on arrival...(aged 72)...Khun Wife happy to look after our farm..dogs..chickens cows...shop...and our staff..so if need be...yes..Hate hanging around..personal decision...

A Thai lady showed me an advertisement for "V&V Guam" ... vacation & vaccine.  Guam is an American territory that is not too far E from the Philippines.  It didn't say anything about quarantine, but I know that for Saipan Island (the main Island of the Northern Mariana Islands very close to Guam) the quarantine is 5 days in hotel.  The vaccines are free on Saipan with your choice of Pfizer, Moderna, or J&J ...  Most likely the same for Guam since both are US Territories.  I hear they have great diving there now too.

The problem is getting back into Thailand after.  If the Phuket Sandbox holds up then that is 1 option, but I'm not sure it will hold long ...

Meh.

hard to get to to, connecting flights only.

one week quarantine

3 - 4 weeks for second shot

then wait 14 days for sandbox or 14 days in ASQ in THL.

unclear what vaccines are available, and in what quantity. would suck to go there and then find out that the program was so successful they're sold out.

crapshoot, I'd just fly back to the U.S.

Are you always so pessimistic and negative?  It is an option for some maybe not for you.

My daughter's a lawyer on CNMI so I get updated info.  I was surprised to see the Thai advertisement thus posted it.

Guam to CNMI is a puddle jump flight if needed.

On CNMI they have slots for all 3 vaccines daily.  J&J is only 1 shot too.  Shots are free.

I'm sure Guam is better equipped than CNMI ...

5 days quarantine as I said

Not sure what the connecting flights are.  Previous to Covid-19 you had to go to HK or Taiwan to get there (maybe Philippines).  Any flight back to US is a connecting flight as well - HK, Taiwan, Japan, S Korea (I'm not sure about the other way to the E Coast).  Still faster to go to Guam / CNMI than back to the mainland.

Hawaii would be another option for Americans and a bigger island if you must stay 3-4 weeks.

This afternoon the Mrs was watching a news program that was covering this story.  The newscaster seemed very angry about this.  I've never seen that sort of tone on any Thai news program before.

I don't think this is negligence or incompetence. At this point I think it's reasonable to say that the Thai government absolutely does not want vaccines from America in Thailand.

Simply because there is no fat lunch boxes supplied with each order.

every other country around Thailand like Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore already have Pfizer and Moderna ????‍♂️????‍♂️

China has Pfizer. They call it Fosun. It's the vaccine of BioNTech, they partnered with Pfizer in ROW and Fosun in China. Easily available.

In Thailand it is not available for the plebs.

Amazing Thailand indeed.

The most amazing thing is, why the Thai people put up with this bunch of imbeciles.

This bunch of imbeciles have guns and other military equipment.

Without help from the Real World, it wouldn't. There is not a single thing in the world that Thais have invented. Every single thing they use was invented by foreigners. What about Red Bull though? A local drink until taken over by an Austrian who knew how to refine and market it. Thai silk that is famous? An industry established by an American. Thai food? Largely based on Chinese and Indian.

They're pretty good on road deaths though. You've got to admit that even if they didn't invent it.

Hey herfiehandbag, looks like I hit a nerve.  My cousin has to come to Canada to see a specialist doctor. Him and his Thai

wife have been trying to get their vaccine shots in Pattaya, but have had the same luck of no vaccines available when

they show up at their appointments. Very frustrating for them and so many people in Thailand. He is fortunate that he is

able to come to Canada, his wife not so much, as she has to stay in Thailand and eventually get her vaccination there.

She is hoping to get one of the good choices for her 2nd shot, in the later part of the year. She may get 2 AZ shots, and do a 3rd

booster in a couple months to get the best coverage.  I do have Thai family there and know that most of them are just waiting for

the chance to get their AZ shots, as they all think the Chinese stuff is not for them.  No trust in that choice.  I feel lucky that

I only travel to Thailand for my vacations and do not live there full time.  Good luck to all you expats that cannot travel for a month or

so and get your 2 shots while out of the country.

Geezer
