INN reported that a female doctor at Chulalongkorn Hospital in Bangkok was stabbed in the chest and grievously wounded by a patient she was treating for mental problems.

Pathumwan police went to the hospital to investigate.

The assailant was named as Thamonphat, 24, who had a fruit paring knife.

The doctor was taken into surgery while the assailant, after she calmed down, was transferred to Somdej Chao Phraya Hospital.

The media said that the female assailant was being treated for a mental condition after experiencing stress with her studies.

Meanwhile a request was made on social media for a Type B Rh+ blood donation.

I trust that security measures at the hospital are reviewed to find out how the patient had a knife in the first place.

I hope the doctor recovers fully without ongoing problems

Not the best combination.

Watched a YouTube documentary the other day that looked at Thailand's mental health/suicides. They reckoned that a big part of the problem was 1 psychiatrist to....wait for it....260,000 people.

The mental health department is on the top floor and there is an airport type metal detector.

I know this 'cos I have been there.

I suffer from visual hallucinations leading to paranoid ideas.

My file has a black sticker and a blue sticker on it meaning that the patient should not have access.

In fact it is gang stalking. Nobody knows what it is and the targets, all foreigners, are kept in ignorance.

There is a general lack of awareness about this program among foreigners in Thailand.

definitely underfunded and explains the high prison population (same as the US, where most of the poor mentally ill are imprisoned)..

It's a common occurrence everywhere just doesn't usually get media attention

All very sad,I certainly hope the Dr makes a full recovery & they tighten up on their security

Chula has been my go-to for more than 30 years. I've often walked by their locked psych ward.

Poor gal, not only risking Covid! Hope she makes a fast & full recovery.
