Natural Resources and Environment Minister Varawut Silpa-archa and permanent secretary Jatuporn Burutphat are presently undergoing self-quarantine after a passenger on their flight returning from Phuket tested positive for Covid-19

I predicted this would happen after Prayuth went into voluntary hiding that he would be followed by an outbreak in the Grubbyment.

The lockdown that should have happened some time ago. Mr. Empty Head who took personal responsibilty has completely screwed this country.

It's always a bit difficult to say , but i think they should not have Songkran continue this year , as there was a outbreak before . The smaller the infected numbers , the smaller you can do closures or lockdowns , and they already help . With numbers rising , everything gets much more difficult , as it is present everywhere . The longer they wait , the more harsh a lockdown needs to be to turn the tide .

1. They are essentially telling us here that there will be 10,000 cases per day coming soon. They are just preparing everyone for the news.

2. I very much doubt testing has increased (probably decreased if anything) and therefore these numbers reflect much higher infections rates, probably 20% to 30% which is a terrifying prospect.

3. Vaccines are difficult, testing is easy. I am amazed the government isn’t coming under more fire for lack of testing as there really is no excuse.

4. Next up will be outbreaks in the barracks. Leaked information is imminent in my opinion.

5. Where is the dear leader during all this, the guiding light giving inspiration during these difficult times.

6. Thailand will be the worst hit globally by this and is about to become the new global story like India and Brazil were.

7. This is going to be bad. Very bad.

This is grim reading!

Sadly i totally  agree

There were only small numbers of cases spread to the provinces after Songkran, and published reports prior to Songkran showed cases all over Isaan.

Many infections in the provinces are the Delta variant, which came after Songkran.

i realize these facts will trigger some people, but misinformation is the epidemic’s best friend.

Where is Mr Czar?Surely his test would have been prioritised and the results published already? He should either be at work or in quarantine like the rest of the people. His silence, though welcome, is deafening!

It takes a few days for an infection to be revealed by a test.

I think Mr. Empty Head would have gone straight to the head of the line. Results in less than a day. If negative will need to be tested again. If positive this should be relayed to the public.

Thats exactly why we and all the health experts had been calling for a lockdown before Songkran.

Again, it takes a few days for the infection to be detectable.

That would have been appropriate.

There were already 550 cases reported before Songkran, all over the country. They should have locked down then.

In today's Guardian there's a frightening report from Indonesia. And it's a sobering warning of what awaits Thailand if things are allowed to drift. The velocity that this thing has accelerated at in a short time is mind blowing. Edited to say that I tried to link to the graph in the article but couldn't.

Were you not saying yesterday was an artifact ? Can it be an artifact when today is substantially higher... Would you be wrong again this time ?

I said that the day only 5383 cases were announced was probably an artifact because of a backlog in lab processing, and the next day would be much higher.

Was i wrong?
