The “car mob” protesters, led by political activist Sombat Boonngarm-anong, rallied in different parts of Bangkok this afternoon (Saturday), to put pressure on government coalition parties to dump Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

The protesters, most of them riding motorcycles and in cars, first converged on the Democracy Monument at about 1pm, before moving to the head offices of coalition parties, namely the Democrats, Palang Pracharat, Bhumjaithai and Palang Prachachart Thai, to demand that they withdraw from the ruling coalition.

In a letter, addressed to the Democrat Party, the protesters accused the government of incompetence in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in serious damage to the economy and suffering for the people.

Not only Prayut should go, but the whole lot of them useless sods should go.

Since they grabbed power in 2014 they have done nothing but increase their own bank accounts.

People are suffering/ dying due to the pathetic lack of leadership from the bunch of geriatrics in government.

Car mob? In Bangkok? How do you tell the difference between a 'protest' car mob and all the 'normal' car mobs?

Resignation on masse by this bunch of incompetents and hold a real free and fair election would be the right way to go.

But highly unlikely this bunch would want to remove their snouts from the trough.

Another co op de tat things, which is becoming a real possibility would only replace one bunch of military incompetents with another that could easily be worse.

It's a clever move sitting in your car and shouting out the window. When the tear gas is fired at them just wind up your window.

I'm surprised protests hadn't started a lot sooner so I assume there's just a lack leadership when it's every man for himself and family.

If all the people in Bangkok and the rest of the country who are sick of this man join the rallies, he would be out already, But they don't organize.... The more people the less the RTP can do...and it has a lot of effect...

People tend not to like being bashed about, have water cannons turned on them or tear gas and rubber bullets, never mind being arrested for 'leading' any protests

IMO a pointless exercise right now, most people are too scared to hit the streets, and if he were to go he would just be replaced with another puppet.

It's starting to ramp up....

soon 10,000 a day infected with deaths rising fast, time for Prayut & Anutin to step down or be removed.

Could be worst but not easily.  It would take some work to screw up this much.

Come on....

If the criteria was 10.000 infected pr 70 mill citizens, then a lot of the world leaders would have to be replaced.

I agree that the current Government could have handled things better, but they are clearly trying to "copy" western countries implementations.

But there is simply not enough vaccines to go around at the same time. Some countries will always end up at the back of the queue, no matter what.

Let the bashing begin - and have a nice Sunday...

Political unrest in Bangkok should effect currency traders halfway round the world (sell Baht).  Hope I’m right about this…

Even if you put them in jail they will be replaced by their heirs. If you put them in jail the next generation will take over. THe last 30 years that I have living here always the same family names pop up. It was the election that created this mess as now the General has to listen to those scumbagsto stay in  power, some will call them politicians.

The scum leaders are not going away not for the foreseeable future not until the financial rape of Thailand is complete!

Who is going to remove them? ????

The strategy implemented around 2015 of pushing Farangs long stayers with medium budget out and focusing on short staying Chinese tourists wasn’t a successful one. Oh and forgetting to buy vaccines on time was another mistake.

It's time the public got off their lethargic backsides and did something.

Instead of moaning about everything, do something en-mass.

Which is exactly why they should go.

They copy what everyone else has done, instead of tailoring things to what Thailand needs, they can't think for themselves and have no real idea what to do.

Limited numbers of vaccines is entirely down to Prayuts scam, waiting for AZ to come on stream and only importing Sino-something which is starting to prove as useless as they are.

His orders to prevent any other institution from buying vaccines was a blatant criminal act.

Not much of a protest.  The goons will be sent out to bust heads and that will be that.

Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.
-Mao Zedong

Prayut and friends have the guns ala 2014 until present.

Conversation ended.

I can understand and sympathize, and there is a lot of it worldwide also.

The constant fear-mongering, stress from lockdowns, freedoms being eroded.. business and jobs lost

.

All you hear about is Covid case numbers and figures, rarely a mention about suicides. mental illness, domestic violence and a host of other ailments these lockdowns have caused.

Understandably, people are getting the most desperate in countries where governments refuse to provide even the most basic of welfare to the people.

How far can you possibly stretch 2000baht/month ?

In the west they are actually talking about "Covid fatigue" being a thing.

I would have thought it obvious.

I pray for strength for the Thai people.

They are obviously nearly spent from all the BS they've had to endure.

The Thai Government are clearly NOT trying to copy the vaccine delivery of western countries.  Their sourcing of vaccines is unique.  Their delivery of vaccinations has not prioritized the most vulnerable.  It has been motivated by greed in the attempt to get large numbers of tourists to come here.  This was in the papers on a nearly daily basis.  How could you miss it?  The US has donated $30 million and soon 1.5 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine There has not been any hint of gratitude.

forget about it. Mr. Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha is here to stay for at least another 20 years. Propably he will live well into his 90s so expect another 30 years before he steps down...

If a few hundred thousand had a peaceful sit down protest outside Parliament not a lot the RTP or army could do.

Have a peaceful protest, assemble, show the numbers and disperse before they can do anything.

Spoke with my brother in the UK yesterday, 85% have had their first injections, 58% their second.

Prayut isn't copying them by any stretch of the imagination.

Yes infections are on the rise [vaccines don't make you immune] but hospitalisation has plummeted to very small numbers, only those with other severe underlying symptoms are suffering.
