Curious what others may think... I used to really enjoy this guys channel. Now he goes and pulls this stunt in front of Thai people struggling to survive through these rough times?

What an utter knob, All I can think watching was someone there less unfortunate and struggling could really use that bike. In a City like Pattaya where 90% are out of work, a better decision could have been made, like an auction for charity and use that money to help feed the needy. This bozo lost a lot of subscribers pulling this stunt.

He appears to be doing a low budget version of Top Gears episode with the Toyota. I don't really see what the problem is.

Bike was sitting confiscated by the Police Box last week, most likely for the paint color not matching the registration.

 

It might sound nitpicky but I cannot stand his voice. I've never been able to watch more than 20 seconds of his videos regardless of the content.

Well, his content, his right to his own script.  Just another in a long line of locals and foreigners who do wasteful things.   I often throw out a lot of food when I don't gauge or time things right...sometimes I'll use a different trashcan on another street because I happen to know the people who forage through my trashcans (for plastic and metal, not for food) and I feel kind of bad throwing out whole roast chickens, expired loafs of bread, etc.   

I watched one of his episodes as it appeared on my YT thread. Thought he was an irritating prat and vowed not to waste a minute of my life on him again.

The comments on that video say plenty. I've found him impossible to listen to. He reminds me of an acute version of Tom Green playing "The Chad" in Charlie's Angels.

I reckon his channel and content is awesome.

 

I hope to win the rotary powered long tail boat.

He tries a bit hard but some  of his stuff is OK.  A bit stupid but just trying to end the bike tour with a bang. 

He did have a different one where he got two kids, one much larger than the other,  to race for a 1000 baht.. tough on the little kid who was doomed to lose but they gave him a few 100.

I prefer this to those who just show off their boring beautiful food and lifestyle, or tour around and do the same boring stuff, or just complain about this and that. 

Can't handle his pushy energy, personally. In fact, I'll just go ahead and say that the vast majority of travel-genre YouTubers annoy me a lot because if we're all honest about it, their content really isn't about Thailand or whatever the setting is, it's about them. It's a benign form of narcissism. Remember, Narcissus couldn't stop gazing into the pond at his own face. It's about camera time for them. They're in love with seeing themselves on camera and hearing their own voices. They're on a star trip.

 

Mark Wiens (who I've learned makes $1.2 MILLION a year, net!!) is a good example. I acknoweldge that I've learned a lot of things about Thai food from watching his videos, but I can't stand anymore the way he gets his face in ultra-closeup all the time where his head is massive in the frame, his eyes bugging out. I have to fast foward as soon as he starts eating or featuring his own face in "scenes." I also find it weird how he excludes his wife and kid from the framing 99% of the time, and how they eat at a separate table from him, as if they're not even there. (Maybe she has said she doesn't want to be on camera)

When YouTube channels get this big, I think there is a really big problem. You essentially have a foreign worker, obviously working in Thailand, with no work permit. I think if when Thais realize exactly how this works, this will end. Enforcement is so easy, there is no way to hide for these big channels.

I watched some of his channel when he first showed up but it quickly became evident that the channel had little to do with Thailand but was more him showcasing his foolish behavior in Thailand.

There are way too many of them now especially in Pattaya seeming to want to be the next You Tube star.  Some getting their channels taken down due to the sexual/inappropriate content trying to attract views.

The CB media guy has a big following worldwide.  I read some where he makes over $100,000 USD a year from his channel.

His content can be interesting at times and he has a background in media.  But sometimes, not so much. 

Not a fan of those on every stream flaunting/using some tattooed girl in a bikini with no personality who cannot even speak English in an attempt to gain likes and subscribers.  Or the ones who say send me your money for this or that charity or cause, and never seem to truly follow through on their promise.

The guy had hired girls in bikinis and girls from hooters in his last couple of videos. 

I watched a few of his videos. He seems to know a lot about tuned Japaners cars. And some of those videos about those cars are alright.

But he makes the same mistake like many people who are more than a few months in Thailand: Now I know it all, and I know it better than those guys who live here since decades.

The funny thing is looking at the comments below his videos his subscribers like him and his videos. And I guess that is how he makes money or at least survives. And because most of the people who write comments obviously never even visited Thailand he gets away with lots of BS - and people watch it.

Maybe if I see a link to a video when his racing boat is finished then I will look that video. But otherwise I will avoid him.

I think there are some great summaries of his channel and personality here .. I thought I was alone thinking this guy was just an insensitive <deleted>.

 

I don't have too much of an issue with whatever he does to his bike, but you can see the reaction of Thai people that they tolerate him at their events. He gives us all a bad name.

 

Someone mentioned the bubblehead girls not speaking English, but also him, his level of Thai and accent are insulting. When do these people realize, all Thais have a basic understanding of English, numbers, yes/no, saying "pbai" in Thai doesn't make you a Thai language guru.

 

Theres another content creator, who has issues saying the place where he lives, the place where he calls home - we wouldn't constantly refer to Leicester as Lie-ses-ter or Tuc-Son, Arizona , he baby talks his girlfriend (and every other non-native speaker he meets) spelling out each syllable of the simple tense words in slow motion, ff .. why? If people talk to my wife like him, I ask them if they think my wife is a retard?

The guy is a complete pretentious Ahole, and not just this latest disgusting video.

 

He is working illegally, (youtube , selling consultancy, merchandise) scamming a bogus education/volunteer visa, but puts himself up as a paid consultant, ie: pay me and I will tell you how to scam a visa and work illegally.

He is running an illegal raffle/lottery, buy his T-shirts and win a boat.

He drives around on a scooter (calls it a motorbike) with no license.

Literally advises people to smoke dope and bribe the police if caught.

 

He is white trash, (supposedly an ex con in the US) who exploits Thailand, Thai people, blatantly flaunting Thai laws and giving arbitrary, usually incorrect information. All with a sense of entitlement that's mind boggling.

 

 

 

Most of these vloggers either have annoying voices or large egos's the only ones I watch now are Bangkok Pat and Bangkok diaries.

Obviously because he just knows that he is so much smarter than everybody else.

I just "watched" that video. 10 second parts every 3 minutes or so. Yes, that must be the pinnacle of his career. He was always annoying but that tops it.

I like the comments under that video. One writes: "You could have just moved down the beach a few hundred yards and destroyed your fully functioning bike right in front of some homeless thais waiting in line for food....go all the way narcissist"

Very amusing.
