It does matter...the truth reveals the extent of their capacity to lie...their capacity to lie is exactly what brought us to this situation today..their capacity to lie indicates their likelihood to be honest in their approach to getting Thailand out of this.

 

Again, for the last few weeks/months when cases were running at 3,000 or 4,000 a day there were none of the signs that people had said would happen.

In India now they believe deaths were up to 10 times more than reported. Why would Thailand be different? We could easily be at 300 to 400 deaths a day right now.

Yesterday my sister in law made a day trip in her car from Rayong to Bangkok and back to Rayong. She fully expected to get stopped and told to go back or be quarantined.

 

There were no road blocks, no police and no authorities. She drove there and back on the number 7 motorway without any hindrance.

 

She is driving to Chantaburi today.

Your argument might hold some weight if they were testing everyone that dies to see if they had Covid19. 

 

But they aren't. So nobody knows how many have died from this.

3,610 official deaths and counting. You also have to wander how many have died from other causes because the hositals are full and how many are yet to come. Remember also that just 3 months ago April 21 Thailand recorded 2 deaths. I would say then that the number has grown. 100 fold in three months.

Since the start of June daily cases have gone up more than 4 fold.

 

Given that very little has changed or been done in the interim and the obvious ineptitude of the government, the prognosis is not good. IMHO 50,000 cases a day is more probable than possible sometime before the end of October.

A week ago I started handing money to people on the street. I never did this in Thailand because it is not my job, but yes, it makes me feel better to help someone live another day. 

 

My wife who never tips grab drivers also started tipping after she saw one guy who delivered us food in really desperate condition. She is even more forgiving these days when they cut her off in traffic. It is a little funny, but in reality extremely sad. I was one of those idiots who said that Thailand doesn't rely on tourism. Feel like a moron now, the reality hit me in the head.

Frankly, it's likely the damage has already been done, so roadblocks and checks are more for show. On a per capita basis, even before it was moved into the super duper deepest dark red, Pattaya had greater infection rate than Bangkok.

 

So many folks left Bangkok from Songkran on, that Delta is probably in every province. Isolation is now a feel good measure; vaccination is what is needed.

You really need to be far far far more worried of the long term effects of COVID 19.  They are really life altering and far more prolific than these few deaths.  

Just don't get it, keep calm, do your best and you should be fine.  But be very careful.  Sterilize your hands and your phone when you get home.  Wash your face thoroughly.  Don't touch your face.  

You don't want this.

When cases were 3,000 a day, the hospitals were beginning to fill up. And some hospitals were closing due to infections among the staff.

One precaution I am taking that nobody talks about is I make my own ice, I don’t buy it. Ice factories have been impacted by Covid, and the virus loves the cold.

In reality, if the government presses ahead with its mix strategy, they may not have much choice. 1 sinovac, followed by 1 AZ.

That's good.

Remember, if you take lots of precautions chances are you may be fine.  I know how stressful it is to have this blowing up around you.  

I personally think the best thing you can do is limit contact outside your house.  Shop when it's dead and nobody is going out.  

And I think sterilizing your phone and washing your hands and face cannot be overstated.  Plus remember your keys, doorknobs, etc at home.  Be careful.

I have to agree but it doesn't mean they weren't hiding numbers. There is of course evidence that this government is prepared to hide numbers the prisons being proof of this. It should also be remembered that the Delta variant is an entirely different beast to last year.

This has been exactly my view for the last 3/4 weeks. In amongst the daily noise of numbers and announcements, the virus simply works away remorselessly. It doesn’t matter what the hospital stats are, how many vaccines may or may not be coming, the plain facts are that it is scientifically proven that delta is a highly transmissible virus, the population is largely unvaccinated and uninfected, and there is widespread community spread.

 

it stands to reason that the virus will continue to spread and spread and spread, until there is something to change its course. Thailand has not done anything yet to change the direction of infections. It has started some things, a small number of vaccinations, some restrictions, but neither are a game changer at this point.

 

inevitably cases will rise further. There are plenty of factors to suggest why they will, and none to suggest that they won’t.

 

restrictions and vaccinations are all that’s left in Thailand’s tool box and now it’s a question of watching to see how those tools are utilized and whether either or both become game changers.

At this juncture, it's worth a reminder that the government yesterday began offering a new COVID vaccinations opportunity via online registration to foreign nationals age 60 and above who live in Bangkok and five adjoining provinces (Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakarn, Samut Sakhon) and who have not had any prior vaccination shot.

 

The location is the Bang Sue rail center in BKK, and the vaccine being offered is the locally produced AstraZeneca version.

You'll find that epidemiologists generally measure growth or decline of this pandemic by averaging the past 7 days. Sometimes the past 14 days.

Facebook users on Tuesday shared photos of an unidentified man wearing a purple shirt and black pants who reportedly passed out at 10am on a street near Wat Bowonniwet Temple in Bangkok’s Phra Nakhon district. Rescue staff were called and arrived at 2pm, only to find that he had already died.
