If you want to accept foreigners' money you also will have to accept their germs. One thing is not possible without the other, I'm afraid. But even IF the country were to open up, what makes you think that foreigners even would want to come? After all, under the current out-of-control situation, there would be a considerable risk they might BRING BACK an infection FROM Thailand. See? It works BOTH WAYS. Thank you Mister Whisper , I am pleased there are people out there that think the same as my self . Foreigners will stay home or look where they feel safe . Thailand is not safe now . 4

Thailand is a major assembly point for computer components and small appliances (air-cons) as well as automobiles. It is also has significant aquaculture and agriculture growing and processing/export sectors. The Thai ship of state isn't in any danger of foundering because of limited foreign tourist arrivals (much to the chagrin of some). Yes I agree, what I am saying is that something has to fill the hole of up to 20% of GDP (tourism), because it won't be tourism. They need to build on those industries and explore new ones. Agricultural oportunities would seem the obvious one with vast swathes of available land. Most discussions seem to be aound when the previous high will return, I am suggesting never to a very long time. 1
Popular Post FarFlungFalang Posted July 26, 2021 Popular Post Posted July 26, 2021 It will be difficult for Thailand to reach 20,000 cases because then they would earn the unenvious title of "the sick man of asia". 1 2

How will TAT spin that? Here is the new proposal from TAT I envision: "Come and vist the Deep Dark Red provinces of Thailand. As part of this once in a lifetime Package tour we will be providing you with a full PPE package that will include a refillable oxygen tank which can be swapped out every day as you visit new and exciting locations filled with our lovely country people. Part of the package tours will be allowing you to assist with helping those in need to be taken care of in a Field hospital setting. This of course is a all inclusive tour package, just pay one fee and all is included, even seeing the beautiful Wats and Temples with the new showpiece of the billowing smoke stack from the Crematorium" 4

Falcon Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 No government official cares about the tourists or locals safety, it’s all about the money. Always has been, always will be. Life is cheap here, hospitals are not. 2
blacksuitdandruff Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Yes reassess whilst still letting Chinese tourists in. IQ level 2000 1 1
PMinThailand Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Their only concern is the amount of billions the potential tourists will spend! 1
welshguy Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Yet another day of stupendously ..ridiculous statements from the world wide respected hub of buffoonery T.A.T Or as it is also regarded world wise T.A.T........... A.K.A. The hub Of Buffoons
Popular Post Crusader Posted July 26, 2021 Popular Post Posted July 26, 2021 To put a little twist on this one...we are always reading and hearing of how many Billions of baht the country is losing, and how many billions of baht they are still hoping to amass this year. But...never have I seen a message, or heard any words of thanks for the many thousands of us who choose to stay here, and do in fact contribute huge amounts of money to the country. 8 1 1
Asquith Production Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 A spokesman for the bloomin obvious said "that the pandemic is out of control in Thailand and vaccination is still low"

skorp13 Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Geez, as of yesterday everything was still on schedule LOL. This only comes as a shock to those in charge. Low vaccines falls directly on the administration and they're worried about vaccinated foreigners spreading the disease but not their own. OMB they really can't stop embarrassing themselves, no wonder there is such a lack of confidence among the citizens 2
Pottinger Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Excellent article on this ongoing fiasco just published by a certain Scottish journalist. Makes interesting reading.
IamNoone88 Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Not entirely inaccurate - he got one thing right - vaccine program is slow.
ikke1959 Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Please explain where the tourists come from... Eu has strict rules for travellers from Thailand, Tourists to Thailand have to arrange a lot of paperwork and [ay for a lot of extra things, China has banned travelling, and so on.. Besides who want to come to a country that hardly is vaccinating anyone and doesn't do so much to keep the virus in control.. Foreigners will NOT bring any virus to Thailand. for that are the Thai people very capable of to it by themselves 1

Hopefully, a more sustainable tourism model but with the massive losses from the pandemic, the industry might quickly revert to its tried and true mass tourism model.
SuwadeeS Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 It is all because of the greediness of them. Everybody of the "leaders" wants a piece of the huge cake. There is a lot of money involved in the vaccination. So, what happens now and the delay is all the fault of the leaders. 2

Perhaps measure the chagrin of the million or so unemployed in the tourist industry and the businesses that have closed ,many permanently. The state of health of those other industries is not going to compensate for the decimation of tourism and will be under pressure from international competition themselves. 2
