Not all. Bueng Kan Province has dropped from 60 odd to 50. All schools shut for 50 cases. Amazing.

Bueng Kan until last week was reporting 3 cases per day which was steady for weeks, then this past week cases went up to 60 plus. Today is the first day numbers actually fell. Similar growth (whilst numbers are relitively small) as Nong Khai. Last week numbers in Pattaya were low, but has now exploded.

If Delta is so super infectious and normal flu used to infect 1 billion people each year, why do people keep believing that the detected cases is all there is. Detected cases are a tip of the iceberg. Half of the population have already been sick and recovered on their own. Where does this put mortality rate? About 5x lower than advertised, somewhere around 0.5% of ALL infections, and this number is for all age groups. With younger people it’s not higher than flu.

You are saying that most people on here are from BKK. Any chance you could tell us how you came to this conclusion. Personally I'm located in Thailand. In two places actually.

Is that something like quantum entanglement...  Maybe you are in all places at the same time but don't know it.  ohhh.... hopefully that does not mean you are also dead...  while being alive...

So they have shut  the schools for the past weeks / months on 3 cases a day.

As I said previously. Amazing.

I think holding Sweden up as an example of how to deal with the pandemic isn't the best choice.

Lockdowns were about keeping the healthcare system from being overwhelmed, and from that lens they succeeded.

Nobody wants avoidable deaths, but the reality is we allow unhealthy lifestyles (obesity and smoking), without screaming blue murder about fast food killing even one person being too high a toll. We don't force people to take the regular flu shot, or wear sunscreen, even though it kills. The rate of death is more important than the absolute number.

You're also downplaying the impact of education, which can have lifelong impacts. You cannot hand wave it away as a minor concern. If you disrupt education at formative ages, in many cases it cannot be made up for in later years, it can (and probably will) put someone at a permanent disadvantage. I hope you don't think that a controversial or disputed statement, I can dig up research papers demonstrating the permanent effects of disruptions made during the early stages of brain development.

You say it as if your opinion is somehow important.

Get over it. Not everyone is a sheep looking for ‘likes.’

Some people are happy to have their own opinion

It had nothing to do with an opinion.  He responded to something that you wrote, something that I think any civil human would consider inappropriate.  So don't try to turn the tables when it was you, in fact, who said something uncalled for.  Had you not said something so impolite, I'm sure he would not have needed to offer up his "opinion".

Well that’s your opinion which you are perfectly entitled to.

As am I…….

I find it amazing you actually missed the bit about cases going up to 60 plus. Guess you just read up to the first punctuation point.

Indicative of the complete and total failure of this administration.

Which country's administration has not had a parabolic graph?

Moderna says its COVID-19 shot 93% effective six months after second dose

By the way (someone may have posted this and I've missed it) a 12 year old is in today's deaths. Open schools and there will be a lot more of this. Is this what you guys who say schools should be open want to see? It's tragic when anyone dies from this monster released onto the world but I don't know about you the deaths of children just make it so much worse.

edit: a bit of an after thought. Today's my daughter's 12th birthday.

61 people, mostly teenagers, arrested for having a birthday party on the beach in Songkhla, Thailand

As Thailand continues to fight against rising Covid-19 infections, law enforcement also accelerates efforts to crack down on illegal gatherings.

And so it continues.  This time in Korat:

Fourteen food delivery drivers were arrested in Nakhon Ratchasima for allegedly violating the Covid-19 Emergency Decree by gambling and socializing while waiting for food orders.

The BP have got hold of the story so far.  Going international for sure.

I know this is absolutelty dreadful but this is one big straw for the camels back. Again I am in no way down playing or deflecting from another foreigner murdered here but if I was from Myanmar and in the vacinity I would be particularly concerned. Let's see how this plays out but it's sure to go international but to what extent we'll see. Just terrible. A call out to the trolls here. Please have some respect.

Just out of curiosity, whatever happened to shipments of doses from the local Siam Pharmaceutical factory?  I saw some shipments in June, but that was the last I heard of deliveries of locally produced AZ.

I read they have around 5.3 million doses being delivered locally for August but can't remember the link to that.

Useful new website for tracking vaccine data in Thailand, doses administered, percentages of which brands administered and lots more.

https://covidtracker-th.netlify.app/

After working on this website for almost a month, the Covid19 vaccine tracker website is ready for public release!

This is an ongoing project. There are still some features I would like to add such as Thai lang selector and maybe more charts and analysis. But that depends if the data is available or not. The govt only releases PDFs with limited data, which needs to be converted to usable data

I fear you may be correct. I watch YouTUBE daily the vids of people on the streets of Pattaya. Three weeks ago very few out and about. Last week and especially last couple days many more people walking around, food carts everywhere. There are packs of Grab motos grouped together waiting for calls to deliver food to go. Likely real world numbers are double or triple of those being reported. Even staying locked up one must send out " scouts " who bring back infection or grab delivering Covid to your door. My plan is to get my Pfizer jab next friday, give it three weeks to build my immunities, then make a runner for a USA " Blue State " and getting another jab in the terminal. The Government here has clearly totally lost control of the situation and is delusional talking about an October 1st reopening.

I live centrally near Pattaya Beach am regularly on Second Road and have not seen any dramatic increase in people out and about, or any increase at all. Which parts are these youtubers videoing.?

As far as I know the likelihood of transmission of the virus from food deliveries (on the food itself) is extremely low (always hesitate to say there is none).  I have seen no studies that indicates that there is any significant risk of doing so.  That being said, if you are handling packaging, you can transfer it to your own plate and discard the packaging (plastic would be more conducive to potentially being a fomite).  Washing your hands before eating is always recommended (or touching your face).   I have food delivered and I think I have only had one that did not wear a mask, and I am always wearing my mask when receiving deliveries (which should reduce the likelihood of active transmission to very very low).

When the Diamond Princess was quarantined in Yokohama, passengers confined to their quarters were being infected. Airborne cabin to cabin transmission was ruled out and it turned out that the virus was being transmitted on food deliveries.

I guess some of us consider education, socialisation skills and child development to be vital.  As you know, I think schools in Thailand were closed far too early, and I hope they are prioritised for re-opening when the wave is over.  I'm no fan of the UK government, but I wish the Thai government placed a similar value on education.

https://edition.cnn.com/2021/01/14/uk/england-schools-hit-by-coronavirus-pandemic/index.html

When the UK schools closed for the summer break new cases of Covid started to fall sharply.... one has to feel schools are an important consideration in Covid transmission.... I hope the kids can get back to school in September without this creating an infection issue.
