Thailand on Tuesday (August 10) reported 19,843 new COVID-19 cases and 235 additional deaths over the past 24 hours.

● 19,445 new infections

● 398 prison / prison infections

Tuesday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 795,951 with 6,588 deaths.
(Total infections since April 1: 767,088)

The news comes as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warned on Monday against travel to Israel, France, Thailand, Iceland and several other countries because of a rising number of COVID-19 cases in those nations.

The CDC has been adding to its highest "Level 4: Very High" COVID-19 level as cases spread around the globe. The United States added Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, along with other places, including Aruba and French Polynesia.

A couple of tweets from last evening re: vaccinations:

Important information for those of you who registered at MedPark under the categories of aged 18-59 with underlying diseases and aged 18+ over 12 weeks pregnant, you must now provide a medical certificate. * Here is the link to register for Pfizer: https://medparkhospital.com/page/covid19-vaccine-expatriates

Important information for those people who registered on the MFA website https://expatvac.consular.go.th I’m told that some people have already received appointments. However, when they turned up, they were offered AstraZeneca and not Pfizer. There was no mention of this in the email.

Ironic considering that Israels vaccination roll out was probably the most successful in the world.

One of the most popular vaccines used was Pfizer !

If you don't have all the variables, you cannot calculate the odds.

If you had ALL the variables you would be very rich.

As I said believe what you will. You trust the government, I don't.

Who said I trust the government?  Massive conspiracies are not that easy to do -- even in countries like Thailand.  If it is one grand conspiracy to redefine the criteria, you will see the government getting egg on their face shortly.  There is a whole reporting chain so too many people can compare their region against what the central authorities are reporting - and that includes enough people who are not necessary loyal to the current government.

All the countries that got an early start on vaccination will now face the problem of waning efficacy, especially when confronting Delta.  I believe Israel is now starting to offer vaccinated elderly people and those with preexisting health conditions booster shots.  The U.S. will probably soon do the same.  Meanwhile, the data continue to show that vaccinated people may well contract COVID but they will be much, much less likely to get seriously ill and die.  Any anti-vaxxer who wants to use this new CDC advice as a tool to bash vaccines has their head screwed on backwards.

"waning efficacy" - efficacy use is generally used to describe the ability of the vaccine to produce a result, I think you meant waning immunity.  Data currently out there is that the currently the use of the vaccine is still providing long term and continued protection.  Immuno-compromised (most often from drugs that suppress the immune system because of things like transplants, cancer treatment, etc.) may require additional shots to help them get or maintain.  If you receive a vaccine to tell your immune system to recognize a given virus, and you are also suppressing the immune system so it does not damage you by attacking what it should not attack, then logically they would never get the same level of protection as someone who is not, so the use of a 3rd shot to either continue boosting or maintaining is a reasonable investment (it is a rather small subset of the population percentage-wise).

The deaths in Israel are about the same as Thailand @ 6,500 but with 15% of the population !!

Is the decline in numbers being vaccinated because of a lack of vaccines or what is the issue.

And there seems to be little mention in depth in general media about it. Given the extensive use and high percentage of people fully vaccinated with Pfizer  it might be a sensitive  topic?
