Not-on-Tinder: I met some super nice guy yesterday in CM. A man with some class! Amazing.
OK. But having mulled over your comments..... What if I were to join the CM Synagogue as some sort of..... Token Gentile..... Would THAT be OK? Or, not? I don't see why they would not wish to include me if I were to become, merely, "The Token Gentile".... And then, after joining, I could learn Hebrew, on the fly, as things progressed. What do you think? I mean: I am sure they would like me, personally. -

I Voted Today
I registered on-line and got the voting materials emailed to me but I am required to mail in my ballot, which I have ready to go. It would be great if all states allowed voting by email, without having to actually go to the post office and mail in a paper ballot. My state makes registering and voting needlessly complex, in my opinion. My first registration by email was rejected. They required my last address where I lived and I was able to come up with the street address but I neglected to include my unit number, which I couldn't remember as I had moved so many times with condo flips. So, rejected; I had to research what the last condo number had been and submit the registration again. Accepted this time. Voting is also more complex than it needs to be with my state. There are numerous steps involved, from printing the ballot to filling it out to putting it in an envelope to printing a voter statement to fill out and sign to pasting the voter statement to the envelope to sealing the envelope to putting that envelope into another envelope to printing the voter address to send the second envelope to pasting the voter address to the second envelope to sealing the second envelope to--finally--mailing it. Phew! -

What time do you get up at?
I worked my whole life in a 24/7/365 industry. I had a variable roster. One day I'd be working all night. A day or two later I'd be working all day. Constant shift changes, with crack of dawn starts, followed by middle of the night starts. All over the clock. Now I'm retired and my greatest luxury is - a lie in. More than that is the freedom to set my own bedtime/wake up routine. I've settled into one where I normally hit the sack around midnight and tend to read for an hour before sleep hits me on the head. I wake most days at 0830, bit nap until 0930. I then catch up with the news of the day on my iPad until I roll out of bed for breakfast around 1000-1030. I've been known to lay reading until 1100. Like I said, this to me is luxury after decades of sleep disruption and deprivation. The only drawback is that my days seem to fly by too fast. I sometimes wish I was more of a 'morning person' and was naturally waking (and rested) at 0700. I could probably get more done in the day. But, I am what I am. How about you? What's your routine? -

Thai Benefits vs Taxation.
Benefits? All that stuff mentioned I can take a flight home in less than one day and get. What I can't get; is a date with a sexy 25 year old. The health and mental benefits, quality of life not dealing with some burned out, bad attitude, fat old hag are huge I think. Old nagging lady purgatory death. Worth for me to pay some tax here. But, I guess to some having a National Park subscription is at the top of their list. -

Thai tax riddle: Elite Visa holders off the hook?
And the best visa in Thailand is a low bar. LTR is good if you qualify for it due to an employer being publicly traded and 150million USD or are a highly skilled professional with existing work visa. For the wealthy LTR visas it's quite the gamble having to put so much money into Thailand to get it. Your investment could crumble or be untouchable at any time. Far safer and more stable places to go that offer a path to citizenship. -

6 year old boy stripped naked and assaulted by 2 girls in Phuket
Phuket: a foreigner is facing massive bills, possible jail time, possible visa revocation and deportion - for an alleged one kick that did not require treatment. Also Phuket: two girls physically and sexually abuse a boy half their age. Pay 5000 and go. And even that wasn't paid. Seriously WTF. These girls should be locked up in juvie or an equivalent. Certainly not walk free with a trivial fine. What message does this send? be as violent as you want - all you have to do is apologize later. -

Billy Eilish's "Birds of a Feather" - is it better than anything by the Beatles?
That's just not true though, the Americans themselves had made the transition from Do wah diddy to Rock'n Roll, they didn't need the Beatles or the Brits for this. Indeed, it was the Beatles who listed to Rock'n Roll and then simply proceeded to ape it, to the extent of affecting American accidents. Only later did they evolve from the stage of copying American rock'n roll. The lyrical journey of the Beatles you have a point, and the years and consistency of output of course preclude a comparison with new acts. But which Beatles lyrics would you cite as a particular example of genius? I don't much care for "What Was I Made For", tepid and tedious for the most part. No harmonies like in Birds of a Feather. -
