1) Japan (3,169),

2) South Korea (798),

3) China (599),

4) Thailand (315),

5) India (294).

You need to be more specific. Disc golf or ball golf? (Thailand has about 10 disc golf courses)

I didn’t realize Japan had that many courses. ????

That's a surprise, I really thought Japan had no land to spare.

That's because they have so many golf courses. 

I am also very surprised that Japan has so many.

Played one out of Tokyo many years ago with my boss, the four of us had a bill at the end of the day 

over 1,200 USD. I was flabbergasted, thanks heavens I was not paying

Thailand currently 261 active golf courses; low on the totem pole!
