Popular Post webfact
Picture: Kapook Kapook reported that Hollywood superstar and Oscar winner who is filming in Thailand at the moment has met his new hero. But it is not someone most people know - it is just an ordinary Thai policeman who performed a touching act of kindness. Pol Sen Sgt Anirut Malee featured in a video that went viral around the world when he spoke gentle to a man who entered Huay Kwang police station with a knife threatening to kill himself. His kind words meant a potentially violent situation ended in hugs and wais. YouTube alone has seen the video viewed 2.8 million times since 2017. Picture: Channel 3 One of them was Russell Crowe who spoke to a Thai TV presenter who arranged an emotional meeting. Russell called Anirut his hero when they met and were pictured together. The cop thanked the big star for honoring him and said that if he ever needed anything in Thailand to please tell him. The former Gladiator star has been gushing in his praise of Thailand as he toured various sites in Bangkok and Phuket in recent days. His presence and that of other celebs has provided a much needed boost to the country in terms of positive publicity, notes ASEAN NOW. This coming ahead of the country's reopening to foreign tourism beginning more widely next month following trials in Phuket and the islands of Surat Thani. His actions in praising a Thai policemen will also help with the RTP's battered image, further tarnished in recent months with a video of an altogether different nature: a man in a police station in Nakhon Sawan being killed by having plastic bags wrapped around his head. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2021-10-23 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates Get your business in front of millions of customers who read ASEAN NOW with an interest in Thailand every month - email [email protected] for more information 5 2

Popular Post 4MyEgo
Can someone send Russel a clip of the latter video so he see both sides of the coin, who knows, he might want to then visit Joe as well, just saying. Popular Post spidermike007
It shows the level of desperation here, that so much is being made of his visit, and the filming here. They are flailing in the wind, at this stage. Nobody knows how to recover from such sabotage, willful ignorance and devastation. Thailand is in a very precarious position, and is alot closer to the edge of the cliff, than people realize. Nobody knows how bad the economy is right now, as few want to talk about it. 35% unemployment? Suicides up 400%? Millions out of work. Tourism gone forever? 13 1

Popular Post ed strong
It's safe to assume Russell has no idea about this guy before he came to Thailand. The awkward level of cross promotion is actually hard to read......"yeh this will bring in the tourists, they'll all want to meet this Thai guy now that rusell crowe has said he's his hero. This type of propaganda might work on kids but to subject this as actual story is pretty laughable. 4 1

Popular Post BangkokReady
Russel Crowe is a good actor and has been in some amazing films, a few are my personal favorites. He's clearly enjoying his time in Thailand, which is great to see. The police officer did a really great thing and dealt with the situation he found himself in a very positive and peaceful way. Two decent chaps enjoying a pleasant moment together. I'm enjoying seeing/hearing about Crowe's time in Thailand. It seems, to me, to be a generally positive thing. It feels like maybe people have become a little entrenched in the doom and gloom of the last couple of years. Maybe it's a good time to stop, take a step back, look around, and smell the roses. Life moves pretty fast, or so I'm told. 9 1

This type of propaganda might work on kids but to subject this as actual story is pretty laughable. Look at Crowe's Twitter feed and his posts about Thailand - he is loving it. Perhaps he is genuinely enjoying Thailand, enjoying the Thai warmth, the hospitality, just like he says. The story of that policeman went around the world - BBC, CNN, national newspapers globally. Perhaps Crowe saw the story - as did millions of people - and asked to meet him. Ever thought about that? Once again, horrible negativity and cynicism by the TVF populace. Quite sad. Do you honestly think Russel Crowe had not seen this story and the Thai police just asked him to pose with the guy and call him his hero? And he just agreed? Sometimes good news stories are just good news stories. Get a life and feel some positivity. 1 1

True, the 99% of Thais are used to living on next to nothing while the other 1% live it large, how long will they put up with it though?

Nicely sums up RTP's attitude to their job. VIPs Good; Poor Peasants Bad. Will assist the former for a 'consideration.'
