OK let's address the elephant in the country. Many Thais have reached a level of prosperity where they may be asking themselves...Why are we still letting all these low-lives hang around our country? Not everybody is missing the hordes of tourists like everyone on here makes it out to be. I know a lot of people here that want their own countrymen to be able to come but do NOT want any Chinese, Indians, Arabs or Africans to show up here! Most on here are two-faced...look at the <deleted> going on in western nations against the above said people. Disclosure - I don't drink, but it hasn't kept me from partying hard. Most of you blowhards just want to return to the bar/gogo club/soapy massage/tail chasing days, but hide behind the Thais out of work and no tourists mantra that everyone likes to spout. It's all B.S. and you know it. Man-up. Stop the Charade. Quit your pixxing and moaning. Popular Post Willy Wombat
My wife hasn’t seen her Thai family in two years. We haven’t set foot in a house that was completed after Australia turned into Alcatraz. We both agree that we will not contemplate travelling to Thailand until they ask to see vaccination status and that it. No jumping through hoops. Now imagine a Thai woman who misses her family and will not jump all the hurdles placed of her to travel back. There is no a chance a normal tourist will go through the hassles either. 8

Popular Post GinBoy2
Apart from the fact this has been blindingly obvious to all, just stunned someone actually had the balls to say it publically, hardly the Thai way! We haven't been back in nearly 2 years, but my wife wants to go visit family We're going on vacation to Hawaii in a few weeks and she was thinking of maybe a doing a trip from there. An hour or so on her laptop, and the answer was 'screw it, I can wait' So if a Thai wanting to visit family can't be bothered with all the hoops, the chances of Johnny Sixpack and family thinking. 'yeah lets go to Thailand' is as ludicrous as it's tragic that the Thai Government can spout this nonsense. 4
dlclark97
Almost all above replies are short and brutally on point. One thing inhibiting tourists is the ridiculous insurance requirements. Even the most well to do persons, especially if older would baulk at having to pay the rates being charged. I understand much of this began due to unpaid hospital bills. But any international insurance meeting the required levels that are also applicable in Thailand should be acceptable for short or even long stays. Perhaps charging every man, woman and child coming from an international destination whether by land, sea, or air, 1000-2000 baht on arrival and 5000-10000 baht for in country extensions of stay to be deposited in a fund for unpaid medical services at any hospital would be more acceptable and equitable for everyone.

Popular Post ThailandGuy
Quote He blames all the obstacles put in the way of potential tourists, says Thailand shot itself in the foot when it had the opportunity to do better and now is even lagging behind neighbor Cambodia. He hits the nail on the head. And with all the incertainty in Thailand on how they acted the last 18 months not much people will book a plane ticket being at risk loosing their money if Thailand closes borders again for countries with rising covid cases. Also for most countries Thailand is a orange covid country zone. So their local insurances will not cover anything. They have to buy the extra Covid insurance in Thailand which makes it again less attractive. Like many others: i will wait for a long time.
Popular Post spidermike007
Is this honest, truthful and frustrated man going to have to endure Prayuth "re-education" now? He is not showing fealty to the so called leader! Why would tourists take the kind of risks these pathetic cowards are subjecting them to, when they have to risk only negative results of 20-40 people sitting around them on a plane? And then, only to have to endure a Quaker style vacation, with no nightlife or beer or wine at dinner? Tourism in Thailand is essentially finished as an industry. They murdered the Golden Goose. Stupidity still rules the day. Can a dinosaur be educated, or be capable of progress? Obviously not.
WinterGael
We all knew tourists were staying away. That was predicted by every major tourist agency in the world. Predictions of tourism recovery is anywhere from 2 to 5 years. Has nothing to do with alcohol bans, PCR tests, or anything else. Testing on arrival is just plain smart, as is limiting the sale of alcohol (sorry, the rich have shown why that is needed here). As for Cambodia, well, I'd say its likely returning expats just like everywhere else... so no surprises there.
Popular Post aussiexpat
Thing is, if we've been waiting 2 years and not come back, pretty easy to wait a couple of months more until they wake up and drop all the <deleted> for entry 4
