rules do not apply to the arrogant foreigners.

not only masks, but also the non smoking rules........which do not apply to them of course.

its why i do not socialise with foreigners here.........

many a time I have started to enter a restaurant.......spot a (normally fat) foreigner lighting up his fag, so I about turn and leave.........

luckily i have many places to go that do not allow the football shirt brigade to do this.......

Or when they sit on a seat which is closest to the street and they think that smoking outside constitutes swiveling around on their chair and sticking their neck out so that there head is outside in the street and then have a cigarette without leaving their seat

They have been told they are 100% safe if they just get two shots....and a booster.........maybe two boosters.  What do the vaccinated have to worry about if they are fully vaccinated?  They are vaccinated, they can not contract or transmit Covid.
Why should they wear a mask?

Garbage, no agency has told the populace anywhere that they are 100% protected, nor that they cannot contract or transmit Covid.

Sounds like you have some serious problems???

You see that as serious problem; I see that as someone exercising his personal expression.

Anyone who exercising [expressing] their personal opinion against a ‘whole group’ of people without knowing them all has some issues....

nickmondo went on a tirade as to why he does not associate with foreigners here (in Thailand) and seems to have lumped all foreigners in the same bin... he of course is different. But, by showing such a negative attitude towards anyone else non-native to Thailand he is perhaps better avoided... he has issues and is likely to be one of those experts who ‘tells you all about Thailand’..... these guys are generally clowns.

Smokers in general...    this ‘anti-foreigner’ nonsense is making you both looks like ‘gone native’ fools...

Many smokers are considerate of non-smokers and go out of the way...  Others really don’t care.

This is not specific to any group or nationality and neither is avoidance of mask wearing...

Most wear masks, some don’t - some are foreign, some are local....

This is like reading those threads when someone berates a foreigner for drink driving or not wearing a helmet then starts bleating on about farangs not following rules etc when we all know - there a lot of idiots and careless, selfish twits everywhere....

Yes, I was commenting on smokers in general , rather than any set of smokers from any particular group .

So you "anti-foreigner" suggestion is a moot point

[Do your research and turn the TV off] - that is excellent advice. I therefore suggest you take your own advice and start by attempting to grasp the simple concept that the mask wear is to protect others, not yourself.

Additionally, the virus at approx 12 microns is smaller than the filter - however, the virus is not airborne it is aerosolised, i.e. it is attached to respiratory vapour and as such it is the majority of that (not all) which is prevented from being expelled when someone talks, laughs, coughs etc....

Masks are not imperfect, of course some aerosol / vapour escapes (at the sides and areas of poor fitting etc), but most of it, especially the ‘larger stuff’ is contained - this is where masks have an aggregate effect and form community protection (big picture).

...  That was your heads up !!!...

That’s all too complicated for the deplorable to comprehend.

A post with misinformation, and links to an unreputable source, has been deleted along with a reply to it.

There is no question at all that the scientific literature demonstrates significant reduction in transmission of COVID and other respiratory-borne viruses with consistent mask usage.

Posters should be aware that there are many "faux science" websites out there which pretend to present scientific literature but in fact do not.  These often use names intended to instill confidence but deliberately misleading. For example, "Swiss Policy Research", which sounds like it is a Swiss based scientific body, is neither of those things.

right, its only those right wing lunatics that stupidly dont wear masks, meanwhile  in the 11/29/21 issue of the  NY Post  ....

"President Joe Biden, who has repeatedly urged Americans to mask up, was captured flouting face-covering rules in Nantucket on Saturday.

Photos show Biden wearing a black mask around his neck, leaving his mouth and nose exposed inside Murray’s Toggery Shop on the island — despite a large sign on the door advising shoppers at the clothing store “REQUIRED FACE COVERING."

Well he is senile....the poor old codger.

So many people getting their panties in a twist because others are not wearing a mask !!!...

Some people just can’t avoid the sanctimony !!!

This part of the Op made me chuckle...

.... as if the security care !!!.... “hey, Mr security, bad man, he no wear face mask !!!”....

I see plenty of people not wearing face-masks... the area I live in is mostly Thai’s so naturally, it is mostly Thai’s I see not wearing a face-masks.

In an area with more foreigners there will be ’some’ foreigners not wearing face masks, they will stand out more because they are foreigners and people will get twisted up and make a thread about it...  all a bit pathetic really.

Go ahead, wear your facemask if you want.... Don’t if you don’t want to....

Personally, I wear one all the time when out in Public....   I also wore one recently in the UK when 95% of the population wasn’t (in a supermarket or busy street etc)...

I think it would take an exceptional tool to go up to a stranger and tell them to wear their mask....  do you also go up to motorcyclists riding on the pavement and force them on to the road ????

Yes, I have done it, I just stood in front of them when they had to move very slowly, and forced them to go on to the road. I'm a big guy and it was one against one. One time recently I did it and he opened his jacket and he revealed a police uniform. yes, I let him go.

He was specifically talking about foreigners , whilst I was talking about smokers in general

There I’ve corrected it for you (below)....

Your Quote: Mac Mickmanus:

"Or when they some smokers sit on a seat which is closest to the street and they think that smoking outside constitutes swiveling around on their chair and sticking their neck out so that there head is outside in the street and then have a cigarette without leaving their seat"

If a moron (wearing a MAGA hat or not) wants to splatter their brains all over the road, and the police don't care, that's up to them. If idiots refuse to wear masks in shopping malls and disrespect the hygiene laws of another country in the midst of a public health emergency, thereby endangering the health of all those around them, then they should be deported or jailed - or both.

but if YOU are wearing a mask the danger is minimal from the maskless otherwise they would be pointless so whats your problem?

I agree with you that someone is exercising his personal expression and I am a big fan of freedom of expression!

But he does have some serious problems. The person in question has lumped all foreigners into the same boat, which is extremely xenophobic and potentially racist.

Take a photo of the Policeman next time !!!...

When my son was a lot younger, I walked to the nearby park (about 1km) - big mistake, motorcycles were coming down the footpath... I tried to make myself ‘wide’... but they didn’t care...  It was their right to ride down the pavement, they’ve been doing it so long its the norm.

I watched a car turning right, block off the whole lane of traffic (in the oncoming direction) for over 5mins while he waited for a gap in stationary traffic to filter into....  No one got out and told him to reverse his car out of the way !!! meanwhile over 100 cars tailing back would have been inconvenienced by the actions of one selfish idiot.

Realistically - its just d!<k-heads everywhere (not just Thailand)... the patience here is commendable, but the absence of any social responsibility enables the flookwittery to continue - I mean that in a general sense, not just with mask wearing.

But two Russians where I am located were fined 500 baht each for not wearing a mask on their motorbike..........no difference to riding a bike!

On a motorcycle: well, who gets out of breath ?

But then again, on a motorcycle, who are you likely to infect??

The virus is transmitted, in the main, from exhaled droplets, and I doubt very much whether they would travel any further than one's chin, if indeed one had the virus.

Whether or not it's exercising, I believe the rule for wearing a mask on a motorcycle is a nonsense, based on zero evidence of transmission – – but as the saying goes TIT!
