Never mind laws it sounds like telling the manager how important it is and offer to pay for a service.

It Thailand cash trumps any any goverment regulation, and some times the laws of nature ????

My wife needs proof that she paid for something a few years ago, so she went to kasikorn bank to request a bank statement from that specific period.
The account had been closed a year ago but that shouldn't matter.

Clerk: "No hab!"

Supervisor: "mai mee!"

Manager: "sent to vault, buried very deep, cannot get".

Why doesn't she use the statement or passbook entry that her ex-bank provided her at the time that she, surely, would not have disposed of so irrationally?

Yep, Western banks are truly hopeless.

That's correct for sure. The only thing they are good for is processing transactions (and they sometimes fail with that). Never expect any kind of "service" from them let alone allow them to give any kind of investment or business "advice".

False, it's 5 yrs for Thailand per Accounting Act, B.E. 2543 (2000)

and for curious, it's 5 yrs for the EU, and I think 6 for UK

NOT 10 yrs for either EU or UK

USA is also 5 yrs if FDIC is involved.

Google is your friend ......

You can get bank statements of up to 10 years

Wife is a banker and have had to get it done myself

Not gonna bother googling law in Thai language

IMO Thai banks lead the world in being unhelpful and having no regard for customer service.

Sorry to hear your problems, but TIT

The whole Thai banking industry need some foreign competition to shake it up.  Why do you think that no foreign competition is allowed here?

My local bank is Malaysian.

Why do the bank staff speak English to your wife? I assume she is Thai.

You also criticize Thailand, did you know Thai women sometime lie to their foreign 'sanook, feel my pum pui' husbands?
