Thailand detects first potential case of Omicron Covid-19 variant

Thailand has detected its first potential case of the Omicron coronavirus variant, a senior health official said on Monday (Dec 6).

The case, which is still awaiting the result of a second test, was identified as a male US citizen who had travelled to Thailand from Spain at the end of November, Dr Supakit Sirilak, the Director-General of the Medical Science Department, told a news conference.

This is a developing story.

Not 5 minutes ago I read a post saying not to worry because it wasn't here yet, and voila, it seems that it is!

Hardly surprising given the extent of it popping up all over the world that it is here too.

Just got to hope it does prove as initial reports have suggested, that it isn't a nasty version and that the authorities here don't overreact.

And here we go again, panic stations everyone...

I am truly shocked
