Popular Post webfact
File photo The case against those accused of the alleged cover up in the matter of Red Bull heir Vorayuth Yoovidhya drags on. Supha Piyajitti of the Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission told the Thai media the investigation would take 14 months to complete. They will announce their conclusions towards the end of next year. Fourteen people stand accused including many senior police officers. Boss - as he is known - drove his Ferrari into a police sergeant in September 2012 in the Thong Lo area of Bangkok dragging him for several hundred meters and killing him. The case has been mired in controversy with almost weekly report. The latest was that Boss was in Austria. He is on a red notice from Interpol but seems out of reach of the Thai police. Either that or there is no appetite to catch him and reveal further cans of worms in the case. It's like a game of Hide and Seek (the money.) If you're rich & connected, Justice takes years to kick in - Premchai took over four years to stonewall his sentence despite being caught red-handed (literally!) Most of the beneficiaries of the Red Bull largesse will be dead before the law catches up with them.

He's "out of reach of the Thai police" alright, but for entirely different reasons than stated here. Try it yourself. Popular Post samtam
Thailand: the hub of stalled legal cases? Has SRT paid one satang of the money it was ordered to pay Hopewell for the cancelled elevated highway and rail project, which began construction in 1997, a mere 24 years ago? What about the partial demolition order of The Aetas on Ruam Rudi, filed in 2008 and adjudicated in 2014? These are just two off the top of my head, but I imagine it's the Fool of Law hard at work. 9
Popular Post TheScience
I'm glad it will conclude next year. Popular Post IamNoone88
I don't think I have ever seen a case in South East Asia for nearly 20 years, against people in positions of power, when one of them has actually stood up and said "yes, you are right, it was me and I take responsibility". It is always the very opposite. 5

The Hopewell was not all SRT fault there were plenty if meddelsome politicians involved in that to, as well of course massive corruption from the outset. I am sure Hopewell company must have done very well to get the contract in the 1st place with no feasibilty study. No doubt they were all to ready to grease the wheels with big dollars in their eyes. He who dances with the devil should bring a long spoon. My sympathy is with the tax payers who just day after day are fleeced by these corrupt politicians and civil servants, before a project, when the project is ongoing and then for decades after in lossess through incomptence or legal fees when it all goes tits up. Until there is some penalty for incompetence/criminaltiy/negligemce in the civil service then they will continue to rape the country dry.
