The Farang Pub: How Intelligent are the Posters. And, what can the Normal Curve tells us about the lengths of their pickles, .... if anything?

Here's another outstanding example of massive intelligence failure.  Or at least intelligence taking a huge fart.

As I've mentioned earlier my sister is Mensa and not bashful about it, either.  So during Thanksgiving at her house one year I'm in her expansive kitchen sitting at the island with my 26 year old nephew singing the praises of Thai women to him (he was single).  My sister was well within earshot as she was engaged in cooking.

Some backstory:  My sister was raised amongst all of the women's lib ideology drilled incessantly into the heads of females in the 60's and 70's.  I can't say which ideas she accepted and which ones she rejected but she did come away agreeing strongly with the notion that women had suffered terribly in a subservient posture to men.  And that idea certainly produced feelings of corresponding bitterness within her.

How this one idea played out for her in her real world was to sit in judgement over the acceptable ways a woman was able to show her affection for her man.  If any action hinted in the slightest of subservience all 'ell would break loose.  I know.

Years earlier I had related a story to her of my then girlfriend squatting at my feet shining my dirty shop shoes as I was buttoning my shirt.  I had remarked to her about that experience, "My God, what you can do with this if you reciprocated!"  I don't think she ever heard me utter those words as she was beet red over the image of a woman squatting at the feet of a male.  Her own brother, no less.  She immediately called me a male chauvinist amongst other nasty words I didn't bother to remember.

Of course, a man was able to show his affection for his woman without restrictions of any kind.  Hypocrisy is blind.

So back to our Thanksgiving.  Upon hearing my enthusiastic endorsement of Thai women my sister looked past me towards my nephew with steely eyes, a furrowed brow, and pursed lips and spat out, "Thai women are stupid.  Stick to American women.  At least you can talk to them"

She's Mensa.  What happened to her intelligence??????  Where'd it go??????  It was gone and in it's place stood a bigoted, acrimonious, and hurtful idiot.

I think it's a lot easier to find common attributes for Thai women as one group and American women as another group. They are definitely very different from each other - at least in general.

I guess if it doesn't make sense to even try to find common attributes for all intelligent women, independent of their nationality or upbringing, etc. One attribute might be that women with high IQ are more likely to study i.e. mathematics. But as far as I see that is pretty obvious and it doesn't help us to know more details about something like this.

My personal summary about women is: I like cute girls who don't behave like feminists. It's even better if they never heard about feminism. And even if some of them are not as intelligent than some feminists might be I would never prefer a (western) feminist. Let those feminists play with each other and complain about all those bad men. It seems that is what they like to do.

Does her IQ really matter?

Not facetious, the word is repetitious...    which tells me that you feel posters here need 2-3x of reading the same item, which is why your posts are roundly considered too long...

While I don't disagree I have more of a liking to your signature:

Know me?...I doubt I know myself...except I'm happy..

Well said.  "There is no endeavour more worthy of our pursuit than to know who we are."  And it states the true and only goal any of us are really after.  Happiness.  "There isn't a thing anyone does for any other reason than the belief that in so doing it will bring happiness."

Man, I didn't read a word you wrote, OMF.  I'm stuck staring at that image thinking, OMFG.  LOL

Fantastic way to change the subject!!  :jap:

Are these things even allowed on TV anymore?  Man, we used to have some great threads years back.  Ask Jai Dee, LOL.

We talk about intelligence. School and university is obviously an important part of this. ????

I am sure her "intelligence" to influence men to do what she wants is a lot higher than those of most feminist. ????

P.S.: Lunch break

Well, perhaps we should stick to the OP otherwise we might be accused of going off topic.

Here's a math test to help gauge one's level of intelligence.  If you were to subtract 69 and 15 from this image the result would be:

10334260_642212542528145_514673406442165216_n.jpg.a23be524428b0725618bdce764cfce20.jpg

If you answered correctly, "The 1 winkin' attcha in the middle," then you're one sharp mind.

I left school at 16. started in a company gluing 2 bits of rubber together. when I left 25 years later I was responsible for millions of $ of sales per month, planning an entire business unit,  I put in a whole computer system from reading a book, travelled Europe teaching the system and was generally known in the company as the guy to sort problems out,

My parents always said I had a good brain but never used it in my youth.

I believe I am intelligent, I can do the mensa stuff etc.

I can write witty stuff on here. BUT my problem is that when I open my mouth I say the most stupidest things sometimes that my intelligence appears to be that of a backwards neanderthal !

Where's @GammaGlobulin?  Shouldn't he be measuring the lengths of the pickles here, as per his OP?  I do believe some of them got a bit longer.

What are the numbers on the abscissa ? centimetres or inches?

You can believe that women can dress up sexy and have fun. You can believe that woman can sell their bodies...to old ugly men if they see fit.

You can believe too that women are OK to find this lifestyle is not for them or possibly abhorrent. You can believe that women can be as intelligent or more intelligent than men and can be doctors and computer programmers.

If you believe the above you may be a feminist.

Point being you don't have to throw out the baby with the bathwater. Not liking the opinions of some feminists might just mean you can make your own definition, or put definitions aside,  and just say that women can do their thing free of controls if they so desire.

This may be painfully obvious but sometimes when people say they are anti feminist I wonder what it actually means.

They look OK to me. Though I might still pick a traditional Thai girl as my partner.
I just see a contradiction in that your lifestyle with women could be seen as controversial but you judge others on issues such as feminism and gay parenting. Each to their own but I wonder if part of your negativity to feminism is that you think they are judging you rather than about what they actually stand for.

I am sure lots of people will not like my lifestyle. And I couldn't care less.

I also don't think any feminist or gay person would care if I like what they do or not. Why should they care?

I am no specialist in feminism. But it's impossible not to read and hear something about feminists at least from time to time. Some of them say they want equality. But then it seems they want a lot more than equality.

I think the best short summary what I think about humans is that they should have similar opportunities. I.e. if a women want to become a bricklayer she should be able to do that. But I strongly oppose the idea that i.e. half of politicians or directors in companies should be women. Why should they? They should be qualified for whatever job they want to do. And why should maybe better qualified men lose a job to a woman only because she is a woman?

When women run 50% of the infrastructure of our civilisation, when they no longer get custody of the kids and the house, I'll judge them equal. (run and build the power stations, cars, build the roads and bridges, run the sewage works, etc.)

At the moment, in the west, they are just passengers riding on the backs of men.

Would point out the women in Asia appear to me to be far more equal.

Here are two digging the foundations for my house extension.

They were good at carrying and mixing the sand and cement as well.

Fair point. A bit of a cliche but I think human nature can be good and bad. Fair and then not fair. Power corrupts. Give an inch and they take a mile.

Years ago, I started my personal "measuring-stick", strictly limited to Farangs living in Thailand, trying to connect their assumed IQ to the actions they take.

-I assumed that a Farang with a high IQ would not invest his life savings into a shaky legal environement and a female person that he really doesn't know (yet).

- Conclusion: A high IQ and a good amount of european "common-sense" are easily dwarfed and overruled  in Thailand when  major players enter the field:

TESTOSTERONE, willing young ladies and cheap beer! The "trinity" of Thailand. Beyond  any IQ and Common Sense.

Same as a mensa test I guess, those that fail just didn't make the grade due to lack of ability ????

Some women take the issue to the point of trying to be just like men.  I like my women to be feminine, not masculine.  Thai women exude femininity much more than western women.  I ani't claiming that as fact but as opinion through observation.

I do think it's a bad idea for women to become soldiers, though.  If that's what's to be then I think the armed services should have chastity belts as standard gear because heaven help them if ever they're taken prisoner.

I guess first they pretend to be equal.

And if something bad happens then they blame all those men around them. Like: How could that happen? Why did nobody protect me?

But sure, I want to be equal to men in every way.

So, anyway.

As I have said before, and I will deign to say again, IMHO, there is only ONE guy on this Pub forum who actually cares about writing well.

I think you know him by his Cowboy name.

This Cowboy, in my opinion, is not really a cowboy, but probably someone who lives in Malaysia, and somebody who has been fairly well educated, and somebody who has a decent sense of humor.

Maybe a rather nice person, as well.

Maybe he might go by various names, here, too.

As you know, even though this Pub forum is filled with blight lights, in the literary sense of this phrase, I would say that the Cowboy, when he really puts his mind to coming up with a creative and unique turn of phrase, is capable of outdoing us all.

Of course, we all know that this is true.

Maybe he is becoming tired, these days, due to Omicron, as are we all.

In the end, and after so many years of mediocre writing we have witnessed here, I just wish that the cowboy will not give up this ghost writing, or, maybe this forum will become a bit less interesting, as a result.

I must add this comment.

Years and years and years ago I came across the true definition of humbleness (and kudos to anyone who can ascertain the source of the quote).  "True humbleness is knowing that no one is better than you and that you are no better than anyone else."  And more kudos to anyone who truly comprehends that sage definition (which admittedly is pretty easy to do).

And now another real life tale:

On a visit to my sister once I was sitting on the can in the bathroom and as is typical in many loos in the west there was a stack of reading material provided.  In this case the rags were published by Mensa.org.  Hmmm, I thought.  What do Mensa folk talk about amongst themselves?  What kind of articles do they write?  What kinds of thoughts do they have?

So I thumbed through the topmost magazine and hit upon an article for which I forget the exact title.  The article was a lamentation, more or less, about the sad lack of consulting with Mensa members by society writ large in finding solutions to the world's problems.  The heartbreaking truth the author exposed was that the brightest members of the human race were unbelievably under utilised (and perhaps under appreciated as well).

Some might accusatorily call hubris on the author.  Perhaps.  Myself, I consider the author's sentiment to be due to a lack of knowledge.  I'm sure the guy is intelligent enough but is his knowledge sufficient?

Years and years and years ago, I came to the realization that not all men were created equal.

Not all cars were built in the same way.

Some cars, like the Pinto are not the same as the Benz.

You can choose to drive a Pinto, if you wish.

You might think that all cars are created equal, too.

But, they are not.

Get real.

Begin thinking like Randy Newman, please, and stop the PC, please.
