Ye gods and little fishes!

The tactics précis at the military academy must be an amazing publication!

I can see a problem though, what to do about poverty amongst egg producers and vegetable traders given the dramatic fall in sales which will ensue!

He must've missed that course.

We have 15 layer hens and a rooster along with a pair of gai baan which have 7 chicks (along with geese, guinea fowl, koi, 2 dogs and a cat).

More eggs than we can shake a stick at.

Although when you add up the cost of feed (they free-range on 1.5 rai but get layer supplement and rice too) the eggs are probably no cheeper (sic) than store bought ones. They are however delicious!

Are you breaking even?

Fresh eggs are great but my booky won't take eggs as collateral.

I think the idea is not even too stupid.

I think in general Thailand is an ideal place for self-sufficient lifestyle.  Tropical weather, mostly fertile land and no property taxes.

Every family should grow their own food and be self-sufficient to be independent from the government ????

I had two pet ducks, one boy, one girl, in the garden a few years back (Khaki Campbells)                                                          .

The girl produced more eggs than I could eat (if you could find them).

I remember cycling around to find them one evening, I cycled back with them flying at shoulder height either side of me.

The misses gave them away, too much poop on the doorstep.

Just about broke even on the feed/eggs.

Yeah, we tried ducks, too messy and hard to find the eggs.

Chooks are creatures of habit and always lay in the same place, actually all the girls use the same two nest boxes so collecting eggs is a dream.
