Was it the smokes, the booze, the women or the <insert nationality> mafia.  We may never know.  RIP Carl.  ????

My guess Mafia wanting money back. Either they've knocked him of or he sneaked across a boarder somewhere.

Phuket seems to be doing well in the mysterious death category and with 250 souls lost in the 2004 tsunami they have cement their lead for a long time.

Not sure why these two ladies are mentioned in a Phuket post; Phi Phi belongs to Krabi..

But you are still here, Steven ????

You do know that Phi Phi is in Krabi and not Phuket?

25 years ago an Aussie friend, Tony Massy, based in Bangkok, disappeared without trace while I was visiting the UK. After years of trying to find out what happened to him I have now, sadly, given up the search.

At 6'4" he would stand out if hiding up country somewhere.

I see the PP expired in 2018, it may shed some light, either way, if someone was able to check if a replacement has been issued.

To the roughneck who just sees this thread as an opportunity to throw <deleted> at Phuket, your inaccurate attempts to rename it Murder Island shows a pathetic side of your own personality.

This is most odd. I sent my secretary out over an hour ago for coffee and Danish and she's not back yet......????

if someone gets dumped in a deep pit and filled in it must be close to impossible to find them unless construction begins but even then maybe not

Hopefully he is well and alive but that might be a bit optimistic.

As for the "grønttorvet" described as a wet market, I'm a bit confused.

At that time it was a market that sold vegetables, flowers and fruit.

So how come it's taken 6 years to notice that he's gone missing? Or is a "slow news" day today? ????

Too many have been missing [the bigger picture] and are surely lost [quality consciousness] for quite some time.

OH MY BUDDHA!  As soon as I saw this photo I thought that looks like the Big A Resort, a wonderful little hideaway between Rwai and Ao Chalong bay.   I used to head down from Isaan and stay there often when I first began this crazy expat sojourn back in 2004.  And young Thomas, the manager, was a really nice fella.  Shocked to learn that he had bought it from the crusty old German owner (hence the name Big A... Resort) at some point.

So last year my Thai gf and I drove down to Phuket in late September and had planned to stay at The Big A, but sadly upon arrival we were greeted with a closed gate covered in Chinese writing.   It's now a private Chinese-owned property.  That's just sad as it was a great little resort nestled in a coconut grove.  And also sad that this poor Danish fellow has been missing since 2015 and we're just now reading about it.

I would assume those who might show an interest in this matter know that Thomas Flindt now has an hotel/restaurant called Paradies zum Ross in Phuket, in the back doubles opposite Makro on Vigit Rd.

So the "mystery" is solved?

I'll be darned. Someone has not been doing his/her homework...

And here we were, stacking up so many theories...

My guess is this a clear cut case of Alien Abduction probably by an Alien masquerading as a bar girl. It's another case for Mulder and the X-Files!  ???? :cheesy:

If she comes back accompanied by a large guy then you may have solved a 6 year old mystery.

Why the sudden urgency after six years?

I doubt there's anything sudden about this other than your new awareness of it.

Mixed up people getting mixed up with the wrong crowd. A well adjusted person doesn't fall victim to booze, loose women, or gambling. As many of you no doubt know, there are some people that should not spend time at places like Bangla and others because of vulnerability to such temptations. Loose cannons without rudders. Pretty sad really. I feel bad for the family.

The Thai authorities can't be that  interested if its now being brought up after 6 years ????

Why would they be interested?  For every disappeared farang, there will be 10 more new suckers to come in.

You just arrived in Thailand, eh? Give it a few years, you will see how wrong that statement can be,

Get in debt with the gambling cartel & it is over.

He is very well hidden or dead

Based on semi-fictitious events from Jools Bar, Soi Nana, Bangkok. Sadly relocated under new management over to Ari, on the other side of the city.

Is Kim still around? How about Peter from Woodstock?

I assume I was made newly aware of this at the same time as you by the publication of the above story.
