I had three family members w the covid, and they had very mild to lay in bed for five days sickness…now walking around just fine. The premise that we are all to die from this is false!

Instead of this useless testing that they do (as you can contract the illness immediately AFTER a negative test), they should test people for natural antibodies and see if they are protected. Why inject yourself with the antibody when you may naturally have it from a possible asymptomatic exposure  There should be a choice of an antibody test or covid test and vaccines.

At this point with the non lethal Omicron, I really think this is a huge overreaction by the CDC and governments. They are throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks. 4 shots!??? Cmon already!

Obviously if a person is vulnerable they should get protected as much as possible, but to mandate the healthy to uncompromising and illogical actions is really unjust.

1. Let Omicron complete herd immunity.

2. Test for your antibodies in liu of a vaccine mandate, you may already be protected.

3. Release us from these crazy masks

4. If you are afraid or vulnerable at this point, vaccinate, stay inside, order in, have home delivery until herd immunity is acheived….and oh, stock up on those Pfizer amd Merk pills $$$!

 

I was a “believer” in the fear, but now w the mild Omicron have turned into a common sense “lets get over it already” for the healthy.

I really think you have completely missed the reason for the fear factor that is being shown around the Globe concerning the Omicron Variant.

Omicron is the latest variant, and there will be more probably , but it is still only 1 Month old from its detection in S. Africa in November.

Its very structure is the reason for all the alarm and concern

Having over 10 mutations within its structure, just stop to think for a moment if just One of those Mutations evolved into something way more destructive and contagious.

Not enough is really known yet about this Variant yet, and to lean on the side of safety is the correct way to deal with this thing at the moment.

The time periods are not comparable. The CDC data you show are weekly rates. What you showed before about influenza were the rates for the whole 2019-2020 season.

 

To be honest the 248 Covid deaths rate likely includes two seasons, so to make it comparable it would be logical to multiply the influenza rate by two. So around 12 for influenza compared to 248 for Covid-19.

Indeed. There seems to be some false assumption peddled on this thread by some that omicron is the final evolution of the virus.

We have not vaccinated just over half the world, and many that are will not be protected at this point with waning effectiveness.

Here we have a latest variant that has limited evasion capability to previous infection and vaccines.

This is not cause for celebration, it's quite frightening. Science, and indeed the virus, doesn't know what comes next.

There is very much a need to learn to live with this in our world, but that's a far cry from just isolating a few stats in this current snapshot and declaring everyone stupid for taking it seriously.

I have told her it's not necessary but all I get back is " better safe than sorry " can't argue with that.

Sure to spread rapidly. One perfect reason for this is what I see on a daily basis. Thais pulling down their masks to sneeze. Absolutely unbelievable. 

p.s. I haven't had a cold for almost 2 years. Not usual for me.

guard up or down won't make a difference because everyone will catch the virus at some point. This is just setting the stage to blame people for the inevitable. But given it's low virulence and hospitalization rate catching it is not a cause for alarm. But the media worldwide can't resist a good crisis even if it must be created.

I've been wearing 2 surgical masks since Delta arrived. Been wearing a mask almost since the beginning of the pandemic.

It is exactly that doom and gloom fear factor, that many of the authorities seem to be loving at the moment. Keep the public petrified and no change takes place.

While it might be true that Covid does not care about politics, there is no doubt that the leaders in Thailand have been using Covid as a cover and that this virus may have saved the dinosaurs from extinction!
