Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd (CATL, SHE: 300750) has launched a new battery for hybrid vehicles that is expected to enable a battery electric vehicle (BEV)-like experience for extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).

The Chinese power battery giant released the Freevoy Super Hybrid Battery at an event in Beijing today, saying it offers a battery range of more than 400 kilometers for hybrid vehicles and supports 4 C fast charging.

Just takes a little bit longer, ~4 secs to get to 90 kph, with a lot more room & comfort during the journey.

Work has given me a Ranger Raptor to drive.

Cost  to fill (Benzine 95) is Bt3400.

Range is 500km per tank, bit more if I dont give it the berries in Baja mode !

Our ICE version of ZS cost about ฿1600 to fill up (91), and 600 kms range (14kpL).  About ฿50k a year for our average 20k kms a year 

 

That alone was reason enough to go BEV.  Added performance was a nice plus.

Anyone running out of electrons with their BEV would have to be one of the dumbest drivers.

 

Took ours down to the low side of 6%, (purposely) and still had an estimated 20kms of range left.  Got the usual 30% charge remaining warning, and good for at least 100 kms more.  Then got 4 more audio warnings as the additional ~5% wound down, along with idiot icon on display.
