Popular Post ThailandRyan Posted January 11, 2022 Popular Post Posted January 11, 2022 Another day and another drop in case numbers. Omicron must have already run its course and burned itself out or it can not get a leg up on the Thai populace like the first wave.....of course sarcasm, but what else can I say. If you do not test and yet hospitals are anecdotally filling up how can the numbers be dropping.... 9

In fact this Government just put in regulations and restrictions effective yesterday and started the process to open up new locations for treatment as well as supplying those isolating at home. Yet the panic by the government from looking elsewhere and seeing how the Omicron variant is running does not correspond with the numbers seen here....well not as of yet. Shutting schools again but leaving other venues open which carry the same potential is still not making sense. I am still waiting to see the numbers that would indicate the need for shutting down certain programs and for the added restrictions. As I said earlier testing is a key component to getting out ahead of any new outbreak. It does not mean you shut the country down to stop the spread of something that is already here. All you can do is find the locales and put measures in place, which they are doing it seems, but testing with an ATK kit and reporting small numbers still does not seem to be telling the truth. 5

They said it was being sent to another lab to find out what variant it was. I asked how long will it take for results. they said 1 to 2 weeks. Then I get a call from the nurse and she says the sample they took did not detect the virus, but since I tested positive at the test and go hotel I have to complete 10 days of quarantine. 2 1 1

I am truly sorry to hear this. How can the government state that 35.17% of the cases are Omicron when it takes 1 to 2 weeks to get results which show negative but because maybe they are positive you must go to our jail. I really hope that people considering travel to Thailand now get to see this real world experience. It is just not in control. I do not believe the posted daily COVID numbers. I see many people out disregarding social distancing at this time, although mask wearing remains pretty good. But it is not clear how much masks help with the Omicron spread. And then this government thinks it is doing a good job. Wow. The best thing for now is either get jabbed or stay at home. I do not trust these numbers. 1 1

So in practice you can arrive in Sandbox or test and go, have your arrival PCR test negative, travel freely throughout Phuket daily, then if you test positive on the 7th day you are still classified as "abroad" when in all likelihood you caught it locally. 6 1

SteveWilts Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 Unlike in the Western World, there is no mass-testing here. Omnicron is here but it's undetected. Plenty of people with cold-like symptoms are just staying at home. Only those with severe symptoms get tested for Covid at a hospital.

Bkk Brian Posted January 11, 2022 Posted January 11, 2022 Don’t know which variant? Here are the symptoms that indicate which Covid variant you are infected with. https://twitter.com/NBTWORLDNews/status/1480713570480500738 Or from the Zoe app in the UK which has millions of daily users, symptoms for Omicron are: Runny nose Headache Fatigue (mild or severe) Sneezing Sore throat While Omicron may feel more like a cold to many of us, it can still hospitalize and ultimately, kill and leave people suffering with long-term symptoms that disrupt their day-to-day lives. 1

I guess they only work in the testing labs from 10.00 to 11.00 on alternate Tuesdays to process these tests. 1
