So what can I expect to pay for taxy from the airport to Kata beach?

I'm thinking the best plan may be to rent a bike from near the airport.  Any options there?

Have you been drinking? It's that kind of price to go a few hundred metres. Get with it!

Have you been drinking (?), the post reads airport to Patong or Rawai. Why would you look for a taxi to go a few hundred meters. Are you immensely overweight as well as not bright? You hansum man you!

Again someone who had to leave and then feels the need to slag it off.

With these whiners there's always the common theme about exorbitant taxi and tuk tuk prices (they are very high compared to elsewhere in Thailand). It is obvious they expect prices in Phuket to be the same as in Isaan.

Anything else listed is just an attempt to justify (mainly to themselves) the fact that they lack the financial resources to spend like a tourist in a high cost place like Phuket. I'm reminded of one fool who stated his reason for hatred of all things Phuket was because he read about an assault case on a bus driver that occurred last century!

So many people are incapable of being honest, even to themselves.

The stupid prices of Tuk Tuks have meant we never use them with about 4 exceptions in more than 20 years.

Drove down Rat-U-Chit Sunday night and from before Bangla till well after Jung Ceylon there was wall to wall Tuk Tuks waiting for fares. Had to be 50+ lined up. How do they make a living? Swung into Beach Rd and as well as the Tuk Tuks on the way there was another huge queue at the beach end of Bangla.

There are a few more tourists but can't imagine there is a living to be made driving Tuk Tuks in Patong.

I've said before - tuk tuk drivers are not making a fortune. A few live in the backstreets of Kamala and they are on the breadline and topping up by doing deliveries.

It's the "licensing authority" that is making the money.
