Popular Post OneMoreFarang
Obviously those expensive phones are supposed to impress all those people around us. But apart from that, what do we get more if we spend i.e. 20,000 or even 30,000 instead of max 10,000 THB for a phone? As far as I see expensive phones offer just more of the same. I.e. a camera with higher resolution, a screen with more pixels and higher DPI, maybe lots of glass and not so much plastic, etc. That's all nice but personally I am happy with the screen and camera which I have, I don't need more pixels. But maybe I am missing something. I.e. I read that some iPhones have LIDAR, which is interesting. I didn't find any Android phone with that technology. And maybe there are some other interesting/useful features on expensive phones. Do you have an expensive phone and does it have something what you always wanted on a cheaper phone? To be clear here: If people want to buy expensive phones for whatever reason then that is fine with me. But for this thread the question is: what is the real additional value? 10 1 2
Popular Post sungod
I get given an expensive phone for work, thanks very much! If I had to buy my own I would spend around 5000 baht, I bought my son a Samsung one for that and it's a decent bit of kit.
Popular Post Neeranam
My flip phone was 35k. I can place it on a table and take videos. There are many other thing better than my wife's 8k phone. My kids have the top iPhones for show mostly. Popular Post Hummin
The only good reason for an normal user to have expensive phone, is because of the camera! I rather spend my money on an laptop or tablet, and buy a cheap phone, since I already have a decent camera. I prefer a good camera on phone to, but 40k? I was not ready to spend that kind of money for a new phone now. Bought a decent Nordplus at 13k instead. Not the same camera, but good enough for social use.

Are there features on your expensive phone which the 8k phone does not have at all? I.e. I don't mean a better camera because I am sure the 8k phone also has a camera. Or anything else with is just better. Thanks

Popular Post scubascuba3
Better camera is probably a major one, people often say faster too but i reckon most people would hardly notice, my Redme Note 9 is fast enough, I'll get an 11 next

It fits nicely in my pocket and easy to hold in my hand when running, I don't have to open it to change songs for example. Good for sitting on my car dash so I can look at maps. Good when using Skype and line video calls. Her battery is better but. 1 1

Popular Post G Rex
For me it has just become habit. I replace my iPhone every few years, mostly because my battery is starting to drain too quickly. It seems after about 2 years iPhone batteries start fading - or at least that is my experience. I have always had iPhones (since #3) as my work phone - and I have continued the tradition. I know iOS products well , and do not know how to use most android phones! About 10 years ago my (ex) wife wanted a Samsung. We got one - but neither of us could drive it properly! - so went back to ???? The iPhone (pro) cameras are excellent, and I appreciate that feature. As a web browser & using WiFi functions it does everything it should do - but probably not much better than my daughters Vivo (@ about 4K baht). For my wife - she wants, no, needs her friends to know that she has the latest and greatest phone! 4
Popular Post 86Tiger
Value of all things, as with beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. One man's treasure is another man's garbage, another cliché that holds truth. That is why they make so many different options of practically everything, including phones. If one attempts to rationalize another's taste there is no end to the argument.

Popular Post HighPriority
I’m in Appleland because I purchased a cheap (real cheap) robot tablet about 10 yrs ago (more…?) and it was totally useless. My first iPhone was a 4, and I liked the ecosystem, it (usually) just works out of the box. My experience with the tablet and friends robot phones, they just seemed “clunky” to me and the Apple more refined by comparison. 3 1 1
robblok
I found that the more expensive ones stay usefull longer. Got an s10 still for a few years now. Normally keep them 2 to 3 years. I like it when they are water proof (usually the more expensive ones). Helps when caught in the rain, make me have to replace it less often. Usually 3 years for 25-30k phone. But its all about how much your willing to spend.
richard_smith237
The most expensive phone I purchased was a Samsung something for about 4000 baht (new) last year. It was purely to be used overseas as a ‘Track & Trace’ phone in the middle east which potentially gave some track and trace apps access to more data than I was comfortable with. I tried to use the phone as a regular phone but it was so slow it was hideous to use. So, while it was extremely cheap, I hardly used it. Meanwhile I have an iPhone which I use for a lot of things daily - from online Banking, to music, to messaging apps and of course taking decent photos... the Face ID is excellent. The phone is just reliable, never hangs, is very fast and is set up just the way I want it. Would a cheaper version be worth it... Of course - the iPhone X took the biggest tech leap... They can be purchased for 7-10,000 baht (second hand) - thats what I’d get if I wanted a cheaper phone.
Popular Post Paulaew
I'm an Android user and I use to buy the top of the line S series phones from Samsung. But when it came time to replace my last phone, I spent about 10k on an A51 instead of 30k+ on the latest S series. The phone is entirely adequate, though the camera is no match for the S series. I have to admit that part of the goal in going downmarket was to control my wife's iPhone expenditures. Since I pay for the gadgets, the rule is she can't spend more for her phone than I spend for mine. Paul Laew 5
