Accolades include those from online travel agents (OTAs) and leading travel magazines reflecting Thailand’s continued popularity among Chinese travellers.

TAT Newsroom

Bangkok – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is pleased to report that Thailand has won a number of awards from both China’s tourism industry sector and leading travel media, including ‘most popular’ and ‘recommended destination’ accolades.

Mr. Tanes Petsuwan, TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Asia and South Pacific, said “Based on opinion polls that included travel agents selling Thailand as a destination and prominent consumer magazines’ choice of content, these awards show that Thailand continues to be a popular holiday choice capturing the hearts of tourists from throughout China.”

The awards presented to Thailand include “The Most Popular Destination” Award from Online Travel Agent (OTA) Thong Cheng, “The Recommended Destination of the Year” Award from City Travel Magazine, the “Most Anticipated Destination – Short Haul” Award from the Travel Weekly China Award, and “2021 The most popular overseas travel destination” from WITrip Magazine.

At the same time, TAT offices in China also received multiple awards for its proactive marketing and excellent industry support throughout 2021, among them ‘best partner’ and ‘excellent partner’ honours.

The awards presented to the TAT offices in China were: the “2021 The Best Partner” Award from OTA Fliggy, “2021 The Best Partner” Award from OTA Lvmama, “2021 Excellent Partner” Award from Tuniu, “Best Partner in 2021” Award from Juneyao Airlines, “The Best Diversified Tourist Destination” Award from Traveling Scope Magazine, and the “Annual Influence Overseas Tourism Bureau” Award from Ydncn.com.

In China, TAT offices in Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Kunming, and Shanghai have been actively promoting Thailand through continuous cooperation with the tourism private sector in China.

This has included joint promotion activities with OTAs, public relations on the progress of Thailand’s reopening to international tourism, and creating online, print content, and feature articles on Thailand and its myriad of attractions.

So they got this award without anyone from china visiting them? China has barred its citizens from leaving China to block covid from coming back. So much for 1.4 billions vaccinated with Sino____.

It's like my wife gets award for best chef though all she did for past two years is fat finger food from food delivery apps.

Omg an award for dreaming about traveling to Thailand. That's got to be the cheapest deal going. I hope the TAT don't get a swelled head with this award lol

They haven't been here for over 2 years surely! So continued popularity is a stretch.

  • Popular Post

Should call them the Phoenix awards to complete this cringeworthy nonsense ????

  • Popular Post

Doesn't mean much. Kind of a less than zero award. Pie in the sky stuff, since they are not traveling here with China's bizarre policies.

A stretch of the imagination, which history has proven TAT has in truck-loads.

Probably the bin for the locomotives was in the same envelope.

The 2018 Phuket boat tragedy (nearly 50 Chinese killed?) is so quickly forgotten.

Chinese tourists have taken to their social media to say that a Thai company ripped them off to the tune of thousands of baht for a Loy Krathong/Yi Peng celebration that left them completely unimpressed.

So bad was the rip off that Chinese tourists were seen in clips chanting their dissatisfaction before a crowd surged forward and one man stormed a stage where a cultural event was taking place.

The angry crowd were furious they had been charged 6,000 baht for VIP tickets - and got virtually nothing.

It is obvious to anyone that the TAT is a failed organization. So, at this point they are simply trying to justify their salaries. They will say anything. Their credibility is less than zero. So, who cares?

Bannon, Giuliani and Anutin  have more credibility!

This mutual flattery is a bit like the 69 position.  I'm just not quite sure who is currently on top ?

This article is rather amusing.  The other day we here Thai businesses lamenting the lack of Chinese tourists and now we read Thailand is the best destination for Chinese people. Nothing like a nudge and wink wink to get things going the right direction.

Does it matter?

Yes indeed, and not only kids! Photo shows Chinese lady urinating inside a Bangkok Sky Train carriage - you can see the urine flowing across the floor!

articles on Thailand and its myriad of attractions.

When I was with the Tourist Police in Chiang Rai, the most popular attraction was the White Temple and when the Chinese tourists started to arrive in droves problems began. In 2015 the artist/architect of the Wat Rong Khun Temple briefly banned all Chinese tourists due to their disgusting toilet habits.

Quotes from a reference, please read in full, amazing!

.... creator of the renowned White Temple, has urged Thais not to hate the Chinese but instead help them “learn manners.”

"I didn’t like the way they did bad things to my temple, damaged it, <deleted> on it and all.

If they <deleted> on it, I’ll clean it. If they break something, I’ll fix it.”........... After all, he thinks the Chinese are fixing our economy in return............... the Chinese are our guests who visit us when our economy is such a disaster. They bring money".

fat finger?

When the Chinese start travelling independently they will be a lot more fun. The large tour  groups are a bit overwhelming.

Will the Chinese come, only because Thailand is promoted and 'recommended' as a travel destination?

I used to like Thailand, especially Chiang Mai, but now it is just a cess pit of corruption. Throughout the 70s, 80, 90s and 00s I was a regular visitor with wife, children and, eventually, grandchildren. Now, when visiting SE Asia I avoid Thailand and Cambodia like the plague. Reason, corruption - most of which started after the west tried to help Thailand after the tsunami and they just saw us as easy, soft hearted marks. Secondly is the massive influx of Chinese and and Indian businesses and tourists with their filthy habits turning the place into a cesspit.

I know that urinating, spitting and defacating in the street is normal and acceptable to these people in their countries as I have seen it all to often, but do they really have to import their filthy habits to other countries

TAT have announced the 36 Millionth Imaginary Arrival of a Tourist that wanted to holiday here.

They also flew in on an imaginary Thai Airways 747.

Of course they got these awards,, China is just sucking Thailand into it's Web ready for the kill...

‘Most anticipated destination’? Lol

I’d imagine even North Korea would be enticing after being locked up for two years!

@ TAT LOL.

Isn't that wonderful now tat can justify their budget pay rise for all
