Civil groups urged the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) to deal with rampant scam calling and texting.

“We have seen an increase of complaints about this and we have sent a letter to address it to the NBTC since October, but little has been done so far,” Naruemon Makeborisuth, the deputy director of the Foundation for Consumers (FFC) told Thai Enquirer on Monday.

She explained that the foundation received at least 5,000 complaints from consumers that have been affected by such scams in 2021.

Yesterday I had a call  from an 'unknown' number. I didn't dare answer it. Then the rest of the day I worried it may be Immigration sot calling me. They are not a KNOWN number, there are thousands of immigration numbers.  Something needs to be done; one number that I can program to answer if immigration calls.

The one scam that of course will never work here is "have you been in an accident " its been changed to  "you must have been in an accident by now"????

Hey Siri, Can SMS be disabled?

No.

Yes, there are some apps.

And yes, newer revs of Android have robust SMS Spam features and functions.

Hey Google, Can URLs in SMSes be blocked (unlinked)?

Depends on the messaging (SMS) client. You can enable web link previews, which may help identify dodgy links.

It´s just the individual that is too easily fooled.

Been receiving call last month from around the world from unknown numbers. Did not pick up and this month nothing. Also got a bill from AIS for 200 sms. I asked them to investigate but they weren’t that interested. I doubt I will get the investigation report.

Before leaving I said if I get any more mass sms bills I would refuse payment. Let’s see.
