Daily News Thai Caption: Bail denied

 

Daily News reported that Pol Lt-Gen Jiraphop Phuridech of the Thai police had instructed the RTP's foreign affairs department and prosecutors to oppose bail for one of the suspects in the murder of Jimi Sandhu.

 

The Indian gangland figure was gunned down outside a villa at the Beachfront Hotel Phuket in Rawai on February 4th.

 

Two men fled Thailand to Europe then Canada following the attack. The media said they were former Canadian servicemen.

 

Matthew Dupre was arrested in Canada on February 20th and will appear in court in Alberta on this coming Friday.

 

The Thais will present a case for bail to be denied in that the attack was a brazen, well planned hit with a planned getaway route and that the suspect represents a flight risk if granted bail. 

 

The Thais want to bring Mr Dupre back to Thailand for prosecution.

 

Daily News made no comments about the hunt for the other assailant believed to also be in Canada, notes ASEAN NOW.

 

Nor did they mention the fact that the Canadian authorities could oppose Dupre's return to Thailand on the grounds that he could face the death penalty. 

 

The Thais would need to drop the death penalty stipulation before the Canadian authorities would extradite the suspect. 

 

The case has caused widespread comment in Thailand and has been compared to the infamous case of Red Bull heir Boss still wanted for the killing of a policeman in Bangkok in 2012.

Yeah, the whole travelling on their own passports, allowing themselves to be filmed on CCTV, etc., all seemed a bit amateurish.

May I suggest get them out on bail and grant them tender to clear Indian mafia filth from Thailand. They already proved that they are far more capable in identifying, tracking and eliminating Mafiaso than corrupt Thai Police.

I don't blame them as soon as he will be bailed that'll be the last time they will see him and that is soooo obvious and the police knows that very well...

With approx. 10 million illegal weapons here....it becomes an impossibility for the poor RTP to trace much.....anyway...the cops probably supplied many of them...40k can get one!

If it was a well planned hit then we would not be hearing about this at all.

 

Instead there would be a byline in a newspaper somewhere stating that a businessman recently died in an accident.

 

This is how we know they're a bunch of pure idiots who did this.

They're not professionals, they're absolute fools, complete amateurs on every level.

Canada will hand him over after a promise of no death penalty if returned.  He will "not" get bail.  

 

Canada has been part of the trend to abolish the death penalty, having done so decades ago. In the 2001 case of United States vs. Burns, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled that people cannot be extradited to face the death penalty abroad, unless the country requesting them agrees to keep death off the table.

IT says where he is, he's in custody in Alberta.  Did you read the article?

Well I do hope that Canada lets this murderer get sent back to Thailand. If the death penalty is applied

it would save the Canadian tax payers money as well as Thailand, a win win situation. 

  I wished that Canada would b ring back the death penalty, I do not like seeing my tax dollar

support a murderer in jail.
