Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has instructed relevant agencies to launch energy conservation campaigns as part of the national agenda, with the public sector taking the lead, to reduce the consumption of energy by 20% and to cut the use of fuel by 10%, as global oil prices rise as a result of the war in Ukraine, said Government Spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana on Tuesday.

He said that the prime minister has also instructed the ministries of Energy and Commerce to develop measures to help low-income earners and to try to maintain the prices of consumer products.

Diesel prices as of yesterday were capped at slightly below 30 baht/litre, while gasohol prices were between 30-38 baht/litre.

Place a limit on how low the temp can be at aircon malls, theaters, offices, etc

Most of them are like a walk in freezer.

The official recommendation has actually been 25 Celsius for ages - hmm, at least long time...

Take up sailing.  Thailand has wonderful islands, beaches and bays to explore and enjoy.  And you don’t need the finances of those Russian oligarchs, either.

There is absolutely no way to maintain the prices for Consumers going forward.

Yes ! The issue is to do with the War in Ukraine, but it has nothing at all to do with Oil or Gas.

The most urgent problem is the production of Fertilizer - yes - Fertilizer.

Fertilizer is used Globally by every Nation on the Planet for the production of sustainable Food Items for their Citizens.

The war in Ukraine, will affect the supply of both Nitrates and Phosphates, which are both used in Fertilizer Production.

Ukraine and Russia have 60 % of the Global Market on these Commodities

Go figure.

In this generally lovely climate (one of the reasons for retiring here) an airco is unnecessary in many places. I cannot understand why staff should wear suits and jumpers in offices that are too cold to stay in comfortably. A bar without an airco blowing polar wind from every direction would be a blessing.

Moot point.

Conservation implies some consideration of the future and planning beyond tomorrow.

That's not a thing in the Kingdom.

Maybe they'll just tell the "little people" they can't drive anymore.

"Sorry commoners.  Only luxury cars will be allowed on the road!

Just love it .....   "considers energy conservation".

As long as I can see cars in parking lots of shopping centres and mall with running engines and nobody inside, staff running around with jackets and similar winter gear in the same premises then I - for one - consider energy prices too cheap.

Education might help; today's cars cool down within no time and air conditioning can be adjusted to comfortable levels. Shops can be equipped with air curtains to prevent air outflow on permanently open doors etc. etc. but, as said, energy seems to be still far too cheap

Very little energy to the grid comes from oil.  So little it's not worth mentioning.

Maybe Krung Thep & N of, but I need my AC, at least set on dehumidifier mode, almost 24/7 for eight months a year.  But agan, oil is not the problem for grid energy, as little is used to produce it.

Well cinemas are.....

See too many instances where AC is operating but doors are left open, cars left with the engine running, and lights on .....

When my sister in law came to stay, she complained the electric shower didn't supply enough water and wanted a big water filled bin so she could do the bahn-nok bowl scooping thing chucking water everywhere. Dopey thing filled it from the shower with hot water!
