Thailand-  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman, Tanee Sangrat, confirmed yesterday on his social media accounts that Thailand will be sending 2 million Thai baht for humanitarian aid in Ukraine.

The 2 million baht (about 60,000 USD) will be given to the Thai embassy in Poland to provide aid through relevant emergency organizations to those in need.

The budget had been approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier this week.

2 Million Baht , not a lot for a nation to send . regards Worgeordie

  • Every penny helps but a headline for the 69.8 million people in Thailand donating a grand total of $60k US isn't exactly groundbreaking, shame really....

I know it is said that every little helps, but I am somewhat dismayed that in this case the "little" truly is seriously little, especially for an entire nation.

Now that's a move in the right direction, and will be seen as not truly being neutral as they say they are, well some senior government officials say, now is it.

It's not a huge amount but it's something.

It will also send a message to Russia.

You never know we may make the hate list Russia has ????

It really is just a token gesture, so as not to upset either the Alliance of Sanction Imposers, or the Russian wealthy.

I guess this 2 M is more than the 1 M sent to Ukraine in 2019, but still an almost slap in the face to the Ukraine people.

Well done MoFA, a kind gesture. I can't believe some are complaining it isn't enough.

I only hope it gets to the people, Ukraine is one of the most corrupt countries in the world, even more than Thailand.

No, as I said, Ukraine is more corrupt than Thailand, check the corruption charts.

Serious CHEEP CHALES.

Look at how much aid the Ukraine gave Thailand in the 2004 tsunami.

There is a Thai saying, "gam sa nong gam" meaning what goes around comes around.

There's an English one, beggars can't be choosers..

Particularly for a country that always seems to have their paw out for a handout

I think that should read............... 2 million baht "allocated"...........how much actually makes it out of Thailand and into the hands of the Ukraine is whole other matter.

That little splash sound you can all hear, is a drop hitting the ocean.

Bit rough, Neeranam, ordinary Ukrainians can’t be blamed for their oft suspect leadership.
Fair play Thailand. Every bit helps.

Had a chuckle to myself. An Isaan woman would expect a farang man to but her a house worth twice that amount in her name..... and still think the man was Kie Neow. Most entitled race of people I have ever come across

Interesting point given that so many on these forums have blamed ordinary Russians for the actions of their autocratic, authoritarian, imperially expansionist leader.

Putin is undoubtedly a war criminal but does that mean ordinary Russians are to blame for his actions?

From pussy riot to  anyone daring stand against him in an election or protest any decision or show any form of dissent has been crushed under putin’s regime.

So 5 satang per head from realm of millionaires and the seepy empire, I imagine the red bs boy's bungs alone would have been more

Govt Donates 2 Million Baht for Humanitarian Assistance in Ukraine

BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has approved a budget of 2 million baht for humanitarian assistance in Ukraine as a result of the ongoing violence in the country, which continues to cause death, injuries, and infrastructure damage.

The Thai government has so far repatriated 230 of the 256 Thais living and working in Ukraine.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Thani Saengrat told reporters the fund was approved following a recent request by Ukrainian Embassy in Thailand for humanitarian aid.

He said the cash will be distributed to those in need of assistance in the afflicted areas through the Ukrainian Red Cross and other international organizations and for the Royal Thai Embassy in Warsaw, Poland to buy additional supplies and necessities.

The spokesperson stated that this is the second time Thailand has provided humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. In 2019, the country donated 1 million baht in aid and medical assistance to displaced residents in eastern Ukraine.

Thai citizens in Ukraine seeking assistance are advised to contact the Thai Consulate in Warsaw at +48-696-642-348 or send an email to [email protected].

What about all the other warlords, the oligarchs.

Do you reckon it was Putin himself that poisoned all those that live abroad, the radioactive poisonings etc, he's got a lot of helpers willing to do his dirty work.

I'm hearing some really bad stuff coming out of Ukraine, the Russian military, killing civilians for food etc., quite sad.

Loads of bad eggs not just Putin.

A donation that tiny would be better sent anonomously.

Its embarasing.

Did you read where I said ''ordinary Russians''?

Or even where I noted what happens to those who do show dissent?

Or possibly take heed that the post I quoted was, quite rightly, saying ordinary Ukrainians cannot be blamed for the actions of Ukraine's own elite?

I am sure if all the Ukrainian mafia and their slave girls in Nana area got together they could send much more than a measly 2 million Baht back to their country for the people who have suffered.

That's less than a General's watch, or his man-bag. But, then again Generals are not humanitarians, generally...
