NE Monsoon

I really can't remember a wetter dry season than this one.

Usually, by mid-February, my lawn is brown and crispy. This year still green.

Dipped the well yesterday to see how much water I had and it's 1.5 metres higher than usual at this time of year, though this could be because of the dearth of tourists.

Usually at this time of year, every tenth vehicle on the road is a water truck. So far, I've seen a total of two in the last month, or so.

I'm lovin' it.

It's almost looking like a case of one wet season merging with the next.

The return of the tourist is certainly noticeable on the roads, some people should just never be allowed to ride a motorcycle.

The Covid effect on travel in general and less pollutants temporarily affecting the climate perhaps?

Not really.

The SW and NE monsoons are driven by seasonal temperature differences between east Asia and the Indian ocean.

Indeed, the norm is/was for negative rainfall between early January and late April and even early May.   February this year was more like September.

Not often that "Singapore News" get attention in the forum

(about the NE monsoon)

Just a quick aside. Monsoon refers to wind direction and has nothing to do with rain, though usually one brings rain (SW) and one usually brings dry weather (NE).

One minor downside to this wet weather, is that the explosions of colour from Bougainvillea, Hibiscus, Allamanda and a few other flowering plants is rather subdued this year.

Not sure what the yellow flowered trees beside the roads are called but it loves the current climate, it's blooming big time everywhere.

Sure the rain is mostly good for the nature and every year i enjoy the rainy season.

But now it's enough. I miss the sunshine and dry season!!! Enough rain till june!!!

Late March and April are the hottest time of the year. Last night, slept with a blanket and no fan. Lovely!

I certainly don't miss the heat, do you?

Agreed, such a nice change to feel chilly at this time of year.
