Following a clip of violence perpetrated on a mother, a drunk son has been taken to "graap thao".

This is putting one's head to the floor to apologize to a senior.

In this case grovelling on the floor was Aet, 38 and sitting in the chair was his mum Thuan, 75, whom he'd assaulted.

Aet offered his apologies and said it wouldn't happen again.

Thuan said she 100% forgave him.

Aet was told to stop drinking.

Thinking this was a step too far, he offered a 50% reduction that was accepted so that he wouldn't be prosecuted, reported Thai Rath.

They then went home arm in arm.

The local phoo yai ban said Aet was on some final warnings and mustn't step out of line anymore after a series of assaults and trespass cases.

It all played out in Nong Yai sub-district of Buriram in the north east.

Not convinced getting rid of village stocks was a good idea.

This is not the last we'll see of this guy, I'm sure. Once the 50% are back to the usual 100% again. ????

Soon she's going to wish she had given him a good kicking whilst he was grovelling ....

pathetic individual..doesn`t deserve a mother.

  • Popular Post

Lazy police… just utterly utterly lazy.

Its irrelevant if the mother forgave him, assault is a criminal act. He should be charged.

Next time he’s drunk he may kill the mother, Who’s to blame then ?

A decision the mother will soon regret.

Unfortunately not... Dead people don’t know they are dead...   (next time son gets drunk and attacks his mother and kills her).

Of course, the police won’t care, nothing to do with them, it was a domestic matter after all !!!!

He is not "grovelling on the floor", he is playing the game.

This "grovelling" is all a part of the pantomine and it starts at the very top.

Very much like some young men who enter the monkhood for a short while for no reason other than they are expected to do so.

Once he is standing upright he will be back to the usual antics.

Such a heartwarming story.  It brought a tear to my eye looking at the kindness of her son.
Must be a real man to assault a frail 75 year old woman.

Negotiated to 50%?
You can’t make this stuff up.

And next time they're in the news...she'll be dead by his hand.

Speak for yourself, I'd prefer not to be put in the stocks in a village full of amorous  Ladyboys.

Stop being so negative and think positive .

Its more likely that it would be the ladyboys in the stocks and not you

Me thinks the lady doth protest too much

It'll be straight back to 100%. They have no idea what's going on.

It's heartbreaking to watch.

Imagine this is how your life plays out at 75 after providing for offspring from birth onwards.

The mortification ...the despair ... the helplessness.

Mental health issues, should get treatment.

Next time his aggression I'm sure will be with more violence

Fake apologies for reduction in prosecution.

Be very careful old lady, anyone that attacks an old lady can't be trusted.

He isn't serious..... lock him up, that may make him reconsider.

Until the next time, I'd kick his head into next year.
