Electric Vehicles in Thailand

I watched it, and did not base my opinion on just one Video.

Bias - isn't that an old style tire ?

Like mistral, I also took the plunge and watched the video. I also watched another and this review was even more complimentary of the good cat. Are you sure you are not mistaking the Ora with a Toyota or Honda? Those have plenty of hard plastic for sure.

Would appreciate a link to the video that claims a real world range of half the claimed range as this is arguably the single most important factor in making a decision.

Just add him to your ignore / troll list.  Seems he doesn't watch or read what he posts about.

The MG 4 Electric received outstanding reviews in Europe and is now being touted the best budget compact EV there (plus, not so much relevant for Thailand, they can deliver some units within this year).

Given the popularity of MG here, the vast dealer network plus their own charging infrastructure this could be a real game changer.

1,598 MG 4 reserved today

So if I understand correctly, there were 836 Cars available and they were gone within 2 hours?

And the total reservations came up to 1598 Cars and took 8 hours.

Impressive.

Any idea on the price?

There are rumors of between 8XXx,000 and 9XXX,000 for the 2 different models  but price will not be known until Nov 30

E-Scooter/Motorcycle

DECO brand, SUSU model:

https://decogreenenergy.com/index.php/th/product-deco/electric-motorcycles/susu

1 year & 3500 kms later, and all good.  Had to replace a turning signal relay, sent out overnight to us.  Under warranty, and we (wife) did the swap, as dealer is 75 kms away.   Silly for him to come down, diagnosis it, then return to swap out the part.

Just renewed registration:

... ฿50 baht tax

... ฿323 mandatory 3rd party insurance

Now charge at home w/solar.

Previously, PEA, and 0-100% cost <฿20

I wonder whether this is a typo - I did not see any pictures or details to confirm it is indeed 'all-wheel' drive.........although it is mentioned in several places on the MG website.

Looks like it has been corrected to read

The first time for rear-wheel drive in a 100% electric vehicle from MG

https://www.mgcars.com/th/mg-models/new-mg4-electric/overview

MG is launching a  Twin-motor, AWD with 330kW of power next year in the UK

Radar is made by Geely which owns Volvo so there is the possibility that it might be available outside China, but probably not for a while as it is priced from $24,000 and will be very popular in China.

More of a fashion item than a workhorse as it does not come with 4 wheel drive and has low ride hight.

Exactly and especially for cars that haven’t been build in Thailand (according to the guy in the video @motdaeng posted)

Rumors have previously suggested that BYD in 2023 will target the pickup truck market.

A model suspected to be a BYD pickup truck has been spotted testing, following rumors that the new energy vehicle (NEV) maker's personalized model will be a new energy pickup.

Local tech media Mydrivers shared a spy photo of a purported BYD pickup truck model with its body tightly wrapped in camouflage.

Nice EVs, no doubt. But probably super expensive due to import taxes / not locally manufactured.
