Fact avoidance again. Another way of saying it, is that Thai EVs are 84% more likely to catch fire 🔥 than the global Tesla average.

Can u help my small brain 🧠 to calculate if the circumference of a pie is pi or that rule does not apply for raspberry pies? 😊 😊 😊 😊

I think your stats are spurious.

I don't see how a house fire is relevant, and we all know the accident rate in Thailand is way higher than rest of world and most of your stats are accidents.

It follows that ICE fires are higher here too, so comparing EV fires with the rest of the world is meaningless. All it proves is that Thai drivers have poor driving skills.

My brother in the USA mentioned it yesterday and thought it was something that wasn't available yet but Tesla was soon to provide the capability.  I told him other companies already can do it but he wrote it off because he thinks Tesla drives the market.  He had never heard of BYD and he has a Porche EV.  Funny world...

BYD is not the only one who is capable of doing it. Maybe your brother would like to read up on it here:

I seem how some drivers could benefit, but I am not clear on how the most drivers would benefit with bidirectional charging.

But still way closer to the truth than the fake insurance and lawyer fire 🔥 data that spurious minds were sharing here earlier and that is what matters.

The truth will eventually shine through the haze of propaganda.

As do you.

You could work on that.

I discussed this recently:

Tesla has it on the cybertruck as well as V2H along with the Ford F150 Lightning and Chevy Silverado EV.

The V2H setups are very expensive for all three compared to my setup of feeding V2L directly into my solar system.

Tesla: currently available on the CT - can't buy in Thailand.

EM during Investor Day 2023 was asked a question about BDC and said it could be added in a couple of years, but said it was "inconvenient"

Tesla’s senior vice president in powertrain and energy engineering, Drew Baglino ,  who has since left Tesla said “Bidirectional… it wasn’t like a conscious decision to not do it; it just wasn’t a priority”

and we haven't heard anything since.

Ford: F150 Lightning  - can't buy in Thailand

GM: Chevy Silverado EV - can't buy in Thailand

Hyunda:  Ioniq 5  starting at ฿1,699,000 Ioniq 6 starting a ฿1,899,000

Kia: EV5 Light : 1,299,000 THB and EV5 Air : 1,399,000 THB

Mitsubishi:  Outlander PHEV starting price of ฿1.75m

Nissan: V2H and V2G is available on the Leaf - can buy in Thailand but you would be a fool to as it comes with the CHAdeMO charging standard and no active cooling for the traction battery. It's also stupid expensive for a 40kWh battery EV

Original Price ฿2m - didn't sell

New Price (Final Call) - ฿1m - didn't sell

I don’t know if you have or are considering solar, but EVs and solar  work very well together.  If you are retired you can charge your EV from excess solar in the middle of the day but a weekend charge would probably cover your weekly commute.

If you can’t charge at home but do your grocery shopping once a week or meet friends for a coffee, you can charge your car for the week at the same time.

In addition many EVs come with Vehicle to Load (V2L) which allows the car to send power out. I have my EV plugged into my solar system at night to give over 6 Tesla Powerwalls of backup.

In a worse case scenario I would have 70% battery capacity left after 8 years which is equivalent to 4.5 Tesla Powerwalls. I don’t see myself selling my EV in 8 years time if the sales price is less than the price of the battery storage.

My original EV is now 4 years old and has only lost a couple of km of indicated range. I can afford to replace it with a shinny new EV, but it looks great and performs very well so why would I?

This is my setup:

Very interesting, but how much does it all cost.

And with all that technology, it looks like you must drive over the grass to get to where you park the Seal. 555

When we built the house we wanted to reduce the amount of concrete we used so had a gravel drive, but even using weed block the grass comes through in the rainy season.  I am resigned to the fact I will have to concrete it.

Go with the paving stones, the grass grows through, they're easy to trim and they look nice.

The future belongs to the young, so I took the gang for a test drive 🚗 in a Tesla 3.

Admittedly, the technology is impressive. I can see how the voice controlled information system can become a source of entertainment and chaos in the cabin for the kids. The long charging stops might be a welcoming break for daddy 👨 the driver.

The single pedal drive control feels like you are driving in deep sand and will take some time to get use to.

The indicator control on the steering wheel is just dumb and impossible to use while turning.

All in all a nice car. The little one signed the test drive off with a bucket 🪣 of vomit 🤢, except we didn't have a bucket, but the Tesla guy played it cool.

Well done for trying it. But why a Tesla Model 3? Not an EV I would consider as I find it ugly, but it's still a decent car.

I hated one pedal driving the first time I tried it and turned it off. If was only when someone explained to me how to use it properly that I gave it another go and ended up loving it.

Since I was playing around with the Cybertruck at CTW, Tesla has been calling, practically begging me to take a test drive and Model 3 was what they had available at Paragon.

Please share your single pedal wisdom since turning it off is not an option on Teslas.

It was easy to get the one foot motor memory, but it does make you slightly dizzy and you mentally don't expect this dragging break feeling.

No great wisdom but I was driving it like my normal car and lifting off the accelerator to coast but that causes it to suddenly decelerate which I didn't like. So I turned it off and thought it was stupid. (It was an electric XC40 and you can disable it)

Then I was told to just feather the throttle to control it so gave it another go and it really quickly grew on me. I drove all the way back from Hua Hin and only touched the brake once when someone suddenly broke in front of me. It's actually more relaxing to drive that way and getting back in my car felt weird afterwards. So even when you want to slow down you are still using the accelerator, but just feathering it with a light touch.  Definitely an acquired taste but once you are used to it it's really good.

I had one pedal driving in a HEV i owned, as it was the first car i owned with any regen i started off on the lowest level through to the highest before i went one pedal driving and loved it.

It’s all about moving your parameters for coasting and once you get the hang it is great.

But going straight into one pedal driving would definitely be strange.

If I were in a city with a support network I would consider it but we are 80km from the nearest city and would be limited to home charging. Maybe in 5-10 years.

There are 2 BYD dealers, an AION, a Changan, a Neta, an Omoda and a Wuling dealership in Chiang Rai.  There is plenty of choice for EV's.

You wouldn't a charging station in Chaing Rai or nearer, the nearest charging station you would need is 2-300km from your home.

Looks nice.

But you mentioned "Powertrain is powerful"............but it isn't very powerful. I am guessing there must be a twin motor version to come.

Just a Google translate of the autolifethailand post on FB  ขุมพลัง is probably better translated as power than powerful

Powertrain Power not "Powertrain is powerful"

Ups.... 🔥

A major fire broke out on Thursday evening in a long-term car park in the industrial area of Prior Velho, near Lisbon International Airport.

Initial reports suggest that a parked electric car may have caused the fire. No injuries have been reported so far. The fire, which was discovered at around 18:00 p.m. local time, required the deployment of around 140 firefighters and 48 vehicles, who tried to bring the fire under control until late in the evening. Their main focus is to prevent the fire from spreading to the adjacent industrial area. Despite the smoke, air traffic at Lisbon Airport has so far remained unaffected.
