So looks like BYD’s main focus at the Motor Expo is offering Lifetime Battery Warranty.

Seems like some models ( BYD and Denza )  pay 5k/10k depending on the model , seems largely for Dolphins and Atto 3( not sure if only new or retrospective ? )

Obviously the devil is in the details and the full details will emerge shortly.

Usual discounting available for a brief period also:

Looking forward to the details.   The battery lifetime warranty sounds great however the insurance is only for Bt50K or Bt100K.  Seems like when a BYD battery gets damaged/fails there is no repair and just total replacement...and a replacement battery costs a lot more than Bt50K/Bt100K.

A post from BYD Thailand on Facebook....don't know how valid it is....but it sounds convincing.  Still unsure if it's only for BYD vehicles bought from X-date forward or also past customers also (like me with my 2 year old Atto).   Note the warranty would not help with resell value unless you plan on selling it to your legal spouse.

Or I wonder if the promotion really means the lifetime insurance will normally be Bt50K/Bt100K except during this promotion when it will only  cost Bt5K/Bt10K?

Details are listed here

50,000km per year limit and 1st owner only unless transfer to 2nd owner is spouse

As I read thru BYD Thailand Facebook I found below....but the promotion is not appearing on the Reverautomotive website yet.  In below flyer they are calling it an "additional" battery warranty.  And it's available to "existing" customers.  If a person buys this additional warranty they would definitely want to do it before the promotion ends 31 Dec 2025 and then the additional warranty price goes way up.

I expect a person would only want to buy the warranty if planning to keep the vehicle longer than 8 years/160,000 kilometers covered by the basic warranty.  It will not help with resell value unless selling it to your legal spouse....or just keeping the car in your name forever if giving it away.   But if you plan to keep the car for a long, long time then the warranty would be worth it based on what I've read so far.

Thanks.  OK...that article spells it out well.   Looks like my 2023 BYD Atto Extended range is covered under the promotion.   I sent a message to ReverAutomotive on their app about an hour ago before see this car250 article.  Basically I asked if my 2023 Atto is eligible....I expect they will respond back with a Yes in a day or two.  I plan to visit my dealership over the next few days to talk the promotion---I sure hope the dealerships have been brought up to speed by HQ BYD Thailand (i.e., ReverAutomotive) on the promotion and I don't get some deer-in-the-headlights type response.

looking at the details it does seem that the offer is only available to 2 groups

Group 1 Customers who puchased cars and have received tax invoice between dates 28th November until 10th December

Group 2 Customers who puchased cars and have received tax invoice between dates 24th October until 27th November

2023 Atto is covered if the tax invoice is for the above dates

Yea...I saw that....but other portions of the article implies to me I may be covered even thou buying my MY23 Atto in Oct 2023.

Hopefully my dealership and/or ReverAutomotive will give me a definitive answer.

Good Luck when MG announce lifetime warranty for MG4  in July 2024 for both new and existing customers they knew total number of existing customers for MG4 was approx 8,139

For Byd if they apply new lifetime warranty for new and existing customers for dolphin and atto3 the number of existing customers would be approx 66,890

Yea...I agree...the more I read the car250 article the more I think it will only apply to the applicable models bought since 24 Oct 2025.

Since Model Year (MY) 2023 Atto's are included in the promotion I'm surprised BYD still has any unsold 2023 Atto models.

And since the promotion does not include Seal and Sealion customers that gives me more reason to now think the lifetime promotion is only applicable to Dolphins and Attos bought since 24 Oct 2025....a big push to sell more Dolphins and Attos.

I sure know there is a lot of "hate mail" on the BYD Thailand Facebook page about the promotion and some of its limitations.

Will do.

I haven't got a reply yet to the question I sent last night around 8pm to ReverAutomotive Customer Sevice on their Rever utomotive app regarding the battery lifetime warranty.  Tried calling Rever Automotive this morning around a half dozen times between 9am to 11:30am...their customer service voice system says they are open to assist callers from 9am to 6pm daily and then press 9 for English.  When pressing 9 it says they are closed...call back during business hours.

I went to my nearby dealership this morning around 10:30am where I bought my Atto and asked the question is my  2023 Atto eligible for the warranty.   They didn't know....they were very nice about it and said.  Quote: "We are waiting for documents from Reve explaining the terms and conditions before we can proceed."   End quote

They took my name and phone number and said they would call me when they find out.   Another person just ahead of me had asked the same question. .  They know me well at this dealership and they know I will come visit them again "with a why haven't you answered me yet?" if they don't respond.  But their customer service is good....hopefully they will find out something soon.  Apparently Rever Automotive (which the dealership people refer to a Reve) has not provided much, if any, advance details on the promotion to its dealerships.

I also contacted another nearby BYD dealership via LINE message this morning asking about the battery warranty....can I get the warranty for my Atto I bought in 2023?   They responded quickly with an answer of: "Customers can contact the service center to purchase."   I went back and asked if "service center" meant the service center at their dealership or some central service center......they responded with a Yes.   That kinda implied I could purchase the warranty but maybe they really meant I needed to "purchase" an Atto under the promotion.    It was also a nice way for a "Sales" person who was answering my message to say you need to ask the Service Dept.  I didn't ask for any more clarification.  So, that LINE exchange left me with no clear answer.

BYD/ReverAutomotive now have the promotion on their website.  To me it sure implies it only applies to Attos/Dolphin bought since  24 Oct 2025.

https://www.reverautomotive.com/news/byd-battery-lifetime-warranty-campaign

image.png.3c3fe59a84c6bfd87c91ac83f9c40ca2.png

And skimming  some BYD Facebook pages like BYD Rever Automotive and BYD Thailand the opinions/comments are all over the map in terms the details of the lifetime battery warranty.....and plenty of "hate mail" on these pages regarding the promotion.

A few minutes called the ReverAutomotive Customer Service number again....instead of pressing 9 for English which always results in a "we are closed, call back during business hours recording" the Thai wife and I just waited...let the system proceed to hopefully get a Thai rep.   After about 5 minutes of elevator music a human answered.   In Thai language the wife asked if the lifetime battery warranty would apply for our 2 year old 2023 Atto.

The rep's answer was they can't give a definitive answer regarding an older or even new Atto "right now."  We were surprised the rep was unsure even for a new Atto.   It  was like the rep was unsure....or maybe even their customer service has not been brought up to speed....or been given a script to provide a "beat around the bush" type answer on the lifetime battery warranty promotion.  The rep knew exactly what year Atto and color we had as she simply looked it up based on our phone number.   The rep said once more details become available its best to contact our local BYD dealership.

So with that non-definitive answer from ReverAutomotive Customer Service I'll just wait and see what my dealership says.   At this point in time I will assume the lifetime warranty will "not" be available to Atto/Dolphins which are not bought during the 24 Oct thru 10 Dec 2025 EV 3.0 campaign....BUT if it does turn out to be available for older Attos/Dolphins then I'll consider that a pleasant surprise.

On the MG lifetime battery warranty T&C does it specify what condition the replacement battery might be

For Byd

In the event that it is necessary to replace a high-voltage battery (High Voltage Battery) under warranty conditions, a high-voltage battery (High Voltage Battery) with a State of Health (SOH) value greater than or equal to the current high-voltage battery (High Voltage Battery) will be replaced, but not less than 70%. The high-voltage battery (High Voltage Battery) that is replaced does not need to be a new, unused battery.

Some thought it was only a rumour, a myth, a legend! And for years it has remained elusive, never being seen by humans. Until now. Until today.

Years of research, of delicate tracking......but always losing the scent. And then, out of the blue, when least expected, it broke cover and revealed itself in public; unashamed, fearless, and with reckless abandon.

Yes, right in the open, I saw the only Nissan Leaf that has ever been sold in Thailand (probably).

In the UK I had a Honda NSX with an extended warranty.

I blew the engine up, I missed 4th and hit 2nd gear whilst spirited driving.

Honda replaced the engine with an engine from a written off press car, only a couple of thousand miles on the new engine.

I've never seen anything that states whether the replacement battery would be new/used/overhauled/factory refreshed/etc.,  but I expect it would be like similar replacement warranties where its up to the manufacturer whether a new or overhauled/factory refreshed part is provided.   Below car250 article gave a deep dive on the MG lifetime warranty but that deep dive doesn't address the condition of the replacement battery.

This deep dive seems to concentrate on what might end up causing loss of the coverage which seems to boil down to be sure to take your MG to a MG service center for most any maintenance and/or if getting something done/replaced outside a MG service center you should come let the MG service center to do an inspection/blessing of the work accomplished.

The Industry Ministry is calling for investment in electric vehicle (EV) battery recycling in order to deal with a surge in scrapped batteries, as well as to grow the EV battery production and supply chain.

Industry Minister Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said Thailand lacks a domestic battery recycling plant, meaning used EV batteries have to be shipped abroad for processing.

https://www.bangkokpost.com/business/motoring/3134203/ministry-seeks-to-attract-ev-battery-recycling-investments

I assume once a vehicle is designated as to be written off by the insurance company various companies are asked to tender for various parts that can be salvageable or have a value

Both Byd and Saic have divisons in China that specialized as battery recyling centres

This guy at the Motor Show covers the BYD battery lifetime warranty announcement by BYD....he was part of the 28 Nov press day kicking off the motorshow yesterday.   He says the warranty covers all BYD vehicles regardless when bought....he said that's what BYD management said at the motor show.  He also talks about what a lifetime warranty really means which is basically up to 10 years past the point when the manufacturer stops making a certain model....he said that's the law.

Now is the info provided by this guy correct?......did he fully understand the lifetime warranty?....well, I can't say.   The video has a Thai "and English" sound track so you may need to select the English soundtrack if wanting to listen in English.

This guy also said BYD Executives stated during the show (i.e, press day on 28 Nov)  prices will not go down any further and will increase next year due to EV3.0 ending 31 Dec 2025.   The pricing stuff is talked about near the end of this 9 minute video.

I went for a test drive at Jaecoo today, I tried the Jaecoo 5 EV and the Jaecoo 7 PHEV.

Overall I thought the quality was quite good, the J7 has a slightly better ride especially at higher speeds.

For both cars I found the seats quite uncomfortable though. They seem quite narrow perhaps due to the centre console being so wide. The J7 is a bigger car but it's only 5mm wider than the J5 so seat width seemed about the same.

Overall the J5 is still a bargain at 599k with a full 8 year warranty on the whole car. J7 doesn't justify the extra 300k but personally I wouldn't feel comfortable in either for longer journeys.

Now beginning to see Facebook posts like below where people have visited their local BYD dealerships today regarding sign-up for the battery lifetime warranty.   Below posts from BYD Thailand Facebook page.

image.png.f46d96e84fbc196d7aef1187893633ef.png

my understanding is that the battery lifetime warranty promotion, 5,000 instead of 50,000 baht for all BYD models, will be available until the end of this year. in the next 1–2 weeks many things will surely become clearer ...

So at this point are we thinking the BYD Dolphin at 449k is a good buy? I'll have to sift through the new battery promotion thing, going to motor expo.

I would rather not have another ICE car, if possible.

Yea....after my visit to my local BYD dealership/service center and the Thai wife's telecon with Rever Customer Service combined with Facebook posts and watching some more Youtube videos from the ongoing Motorshow I'm now back on the side of the fence that the lifetime battery warranty will be available to old customers/pretty much all BYD BEV models; and not just limited to those customers/models listed in BYD ongoing EV3.0/MotorShow Promotion.

That promotion(s) seems to be intentionally written with a "100% focus on new sales/reservations" made since 24 Oct 2025....the promotion apparently written to avoid at all costs any info about additional battery warranty provisions for previous BYD sales/other BYD models other than the Atto/Dolphin.   The promotion wants to ensure it projects the maximum "tasty worm on the hook" impression.  If it had also directly stated/implied all other and previously sold BYD models would be eligible for the additional warranty it might have convinced some "potential buyers" who was almost (but not quite) at the decision point of buying a new BYD to instead say, "Well, heck, now that BYD will have a lifetime battery warranty that has caused me to change my mind and not buy a new BYD right now....instead I'll just hang onto my current BYD as I'll no longer have any battery worries even if I keep it beyond the 8 year/160,000km  warranty it initially came with."

Yea....I'm now back on the side of the fence that the additional battery warranty will be offered to old customers/all BYD BEV models but BYD made such an effort to keep the info "close-hold" until announced on 28 Nov at the ongoing Motorshow that it was kept so close-hold even dealerships and customer service reps were kept mostly in the dark.   Hopefully that darkness will begin to clear over the coming week with HQ BYD Thailand providing "details/documents/sign-up procedure" to its dealerships.

I'm thinking what a BYD dealership service center told the person in the Facebook post a couple of posts up will be how the additional warranty signup will go.   Time will tell....but I hope some new info don't come out that throws me back on the other side of the fence. 😀

You have far more patience than me @Pib !!

I tried to follow FB posts to try and understand the details but just ended up making my head spin as the translation often makes the conversation unintelligible.

If the “ promotion “ does extend to every current and future BYD owner is there anything new in the new battery warranty other than the lifetime extension from 8 year/160k km stipulation ?

If the same warranty only extended then will only apply for those thinking of keeping the car for > 8 years or driving in excess of 160k km ?

If i understand it correctly then it will only apply to the initial owner so will not enhance any resale value if you want to sell anytime soon ?

Also, from what i understand, the lifetime battery warranty was available from Rever previously for 50k baht but now available for 5k baht for a period until Dec 10th ?

@ 449k, that's a no brainer for me.

Or yet again, owning another under performing, expensive to maintain & operate POS ICEV.

In 10 yrs, what is any 449k vehicle going to be worth, or worse, a 600k ICEV, that cost more every year to drive, going to be worth.

How much per kms do you want to pay to drive, the next 10 year ?
