How in God's name do they manage to crash head on? The standard of driving here beggars belief, it isn't just at Songkhran either!

One of them (Box) truck on the wrong side of the road.

Either driving too fast and skidding across the road, or simply on wrong side of the road.

Tragic if it was the innocent party who was killed.

Nooooo... the brake failure excuse is sooooo yesterday....

..... the go to excuse now is ‘lap-nai’...

As in, "it wasn’t my fault, the micro-sleep was to blame”....

Looks to me from the damage that the driver on the wrong side of the road was the one killed. That's fine by me.

Take a look at the top photo again. There's a solid yellow line that both vehicles are on the left of.

When it's wet they need no other excuse.  They can't drive properly when it's dry and perfect driving conditions !

More like Brain failure. Likely the rain will be the blame, for slippery roadway.

I lived in Houston Texas when a freak freeze broke watermains under roads.

Citizens not being used to driving on ice, it turned into a mass collision.

Since it never rains here the drivers were not accustomed to careful driving on wet roads.

Simple misunderstanding.

Of course it happens here daily on dry roads but that's not relevant.
