Banglamung – A foreign tourist with an unknown identity was found dead and unclothed in a rental room in the Banglamung district of Chonburi Saturday evening, April 23rd.

Superintendent Kullachart Kullachai and officers from the Pattaya Police station arrived at a residence on Soi Chaiyapoon in Central Pattaya around 5:00 P.M. on Saturday after being alerted of a foreigner’s death in a room inside the residence.

The deceased, whose name and identity remain unknown as of press time, was found naked across from the door to his bedroom. According to the initial inspection, the man was approximately around 40-60 years old. The room was sparsely furnished with very few belongings or items.

Inside the room, a large pile of dried blood was found on the floor near a pair of black shoes. Pieces of bottles, snacks, and garbage was scattered on a wooden table. Spots of blood were also found in the bathroom. A wound was also discovered at the back of the deceased man’s neck.

A maid and receptionist at the residence, Saifon Khamdee, 41, told Pattaya police that the foreigner was staying for 3-4 days but she did not know his identity as the residence owner who kept all the documents could not be reached at the moment.

who would stay in a room that bad, worse than a short time room. I'm not sure why the age of the maid and receptionist is relevant

Someone short on funds...
The age statement is to pad-out an otherwise short story.

Why is there a broken door catch on the table, was his wallet there in the room, why was his Passport/paperwork with the owner, laid dead behind the door with a neck wound. All sounds very suspect to me.

He was opening the door.  The handle fell off in his hand and struck him in the back of the neck.  He placed the door knob on the table before he blacked out from a lack of oxygen to his brain caused by low blood levels.

Next.

OK, but also the broken door lock on the table.

For someone that's only staying there 3-4 days, why would that be there?

"She then called her brother to help open the door" Guess they only had one key and had to break in. Usually the maid has a copy as well and wouldn't need her brother to help.

Where does it say 'white foreigner'.

Could have been a Cambodian labourer.

Cambodian labourers have free accommodation on-site usually, even at 300 baht per night for that <deleted> room, that's their full daily wage almost and them being 40-60 also makes it more unlikely.

suspicious without doubt

He could have fallen backwards and hit his neck then stumbled somewhere before passing out. He was naked so could have fallen in the bathroom perhaps onto the edge of a bath. That accounts for the blood in the bathroom.

I don't usually do any DIY repairs when I rent a room for a night or two.

I carry a screwdriver and small penknife in my shower bag, always ready to tinker and invariably something is broken. It kills time until beer o'clock. If I still had my Leatherman I would carry that, and really get going... but a Filipino scrounged it off me when I retired!
