Phuket sees 82 percent increase year over year in new tourism business registration, top of southern provinces

Phuket –  Phuket is at the top of the four southern provinces that focus on tourism in terms of new business registration with an 82 percent increase as the tourism economy has improved.

 

The Deputy Minister of Commerce Mr. Sinit Lertkrai told The Phuket Express, “The Department of Business and Development has analyzed business trends in four famous tourism areas in southern provinces which are Phuket, Surat Thani, Krabi, and Phang Nga in the first three months of this year (January to March). There are 1,216 new businesses registered overall which a is 51.62 percent increase.”

“Phuket has the highest number of new businesses registered which is 613 businesses.

Reading the headline and you would think that business is booming .

But when you take into consideration that many businesses closed in the last few years and very few opened , you can understand why there's been an  83 % increase in new businesses compared to last year

Is this really news? Of course Phuket is the main southern tourist province, and after 2021 and with the eased entry restrictions, it's obvious that there will be an increase.

 

In other news... The sun will rise in the east tomorrow, Bangkok will be hot, and Prayuth is a fool.

Yep, 82 % from nothing is great! 1 tourist would make up that. However, this makes me wonder if the guy was decapitated.

Most likely most were people who went out of business and left debtors stranded during covid to open under a new name on re-opening !
