Hotel either had a clueless manager, or one on the take and knew what was going on.

But what would you do if your place would be empty with no support from the government?

Rent it out and be able to cover the costs or keep it empty and use your savings or go bankrupt?

Lets include Thai Immigration or maybe agents they may have used to stay legally in Thailand lets check them also. Ask the local police why they noticed NOTHING special.

Maybe not related but I asked my boss if I could leave an hour early the other day.

He said, "Only if you can make up the time."

I said "OK, it's 35 past 50".

This is a well known scam literally called the 'pig butchering' scam - Sha Zhu Pan” (殺豬盤) romance scam.

The idea is to seduce men online and then introduce them to a financial investment (often crypto or shares onto a fake exchange platform).  It can go for days/weeks/months.

Fattening the pig for slaughter.

Often handled by Chinese mafia.  Looks like the Thais are being recruited to join in on fleecing farangs too.  Lovely people.
