ATTRACTING critical comments is a video clip that had been shared by a Facebook member showing a foreign tourist driving on the wrong side of a road that winds up and down a hill in Chiang Mai province and only switching to the left lane after almost hitting a motorcyclist, Amarin TV said today (May 27).

 

In a message accompanying this video clip the Facebook member, whose username is Net Naritsarut, said he recorded the foreign tourist driving on the right side of Hang Dong-Samoeng Road for an extended period with his mobile phone camera as he followed him on the left side.

At a curve the foreigner almost hit a motorcyclist coming the other way but managed to brake on time, he said, adding that it was then that the foreigner realised he had been driving on the wrong side of the road and switched to the left lane.

How does he know it's a foreign tourist and not a <deleted> Thai - would he post it if it was a <deleted> Thai. He must have got a good look at his visa in his passport.

Instead of warning the driver of the danger he is causing and thus possibly avoiding dangerous accidents, he films the scene in order to post it on social media to get likes. HE is the criminal. He probably hoped he could film an accident ..... so many more likes .... incredibly idiotic

Utter rubbish! The is no way he could identify a foreigner in that light, plus the fact he was making a recording on his mobile phone!!! Who was the more dangerous?

It isn't rocket science to get it right regardless of LHD or RHD, I've driven both extensively. I wonder if it was a Chinese tourist in their LHD vehicle getting confused.

 

 

every day i need to make a U turn to get to  my daughters school, opposite of another U turn possibility, EVERY day it's Russian Roulette as 90% of Thai Motor cyclist's are popping op from the nearest soi to drive head on towards us, it's common practice but life threatening!!

Simply copying the multitude of local motorcycles driving on the wrong side of the road perhaps!

 

And the person taking the video, dipstick, driving one handed taking a video and not flashing warnings to the driver in front.

Thai do the same even on the highway.... But foreigners are blamed and nailed.......Sadly ...

Let's just say, that if a foreigner was to film locals driving incorrectly...it would be a full-time job.

Not seeing the issue to be honest, I always go out wide to cut into the corner for the best racing line.

Falangs are responsible for the dangerous roads!  First Covid! Now this.  Falang…bad

 

76 years in Thailand.  Never saw a Thai drive recklessly. best drivers in the world.  This falang must be arrested, deported! Take their house! Etc….

So he allowed the foreigner to drive for an extended time, without catching up to him and warning him of his error, before an accident happened?

Better to film him and send it to FB?

Personally I haven't been able to see thru many vehicle windows since they discovered the window film. 

Maybe he's an Indian and been told the ladyboys always hang out on the left side of the road  ?

I am glad that this person was filmed, driving on the wrong side of the road.

That person should be happy that he or she did not have a head on accident

with some other 4 wheel vehicle. Posters who are unhappy that this incident

That will go over the heads of most readers here and totally denied by any American ????

At least it was an honest mistake, compared to the many Thai who purposely drive their bikes on wrong side.

When I returned to the US for a spell a few years back, I jumped into my car and then drove for a short distance on the wrong (left) side of the road (it quickly dawned on me when I was momentarily wondering why another car was heading straight for me).
