Out of control foreign "tourist" smashes up Bangkok Bank branch in north - causes nearly 500K damage

Sanook Thai Caption: "Farang" smashes up bank

 

Sanook published a video that showed a foreigner armed with rocks brought by motorcycle smash up the front of the Bangkok Bank branch in Pai, Mae Hong Son, northern Thailand.

 

He then entered the bank around 7 pm on Wednesday night and then caused further damage inside smashing computers and a printer and other equipment.

 

He is now in custody charged with overstay, trespass and causing damage.

 

Provincial police chief Pol Maj-Gen Pitchaya Bunkhajorn was informed of the crime by chief of the Pai police Pol Col Theethawut Banthitchusakun at 7.14 pm on Wednesday. 

 

Following the incident caused by the "mad farang" as he was referred to in the media, the bank's rep Suthiporn Buntankan reported Kent D. for trespass and damage in the sum of 460,600 baht.

 

He had damaged several security doors and front window sections, three computer screens, a computer, a counter screen and a printer.

Yesterday the police arrested Kent, 44, in front of Villa Wolfsbau in the northern tourist city. 

 

Twenty five rocks or stones similar to the ones used in the attack were found with his motorcycle.  

 

He reportedly admitted collecting the rocks for use in the attack.

 

He had a Canadian passport with permission to stay until April 17th 2022.

He was charged with overstay, trespass at night and causing damage and detained. 

 

Maj-Gen Pitchaya said that everything had been done to resolve the crime and reassure locals, tourists and visitors to Mae Hong Son. 

 

Sanook referred to the suspect as a "nak thong thiaw" or tourist.

 

The media gave no reason for the attack and did not speculate about it, notes ASEAN NOW.

OMG another bad falang in the LOS, further ruining our reputation and destroying all hopes of Thais embracing us into their family.   I'm not going to say, "Thanks Canada" because there are crazy people in every country.   

 

This is not a good solution:  bricks at a brick-n-mortar store.   I would create my own bank, make 100 billion, and show them!!!!  but falang use rock...throw rock....mad mad mad mad falang.

 

Pai......the one place nobody can say correctly.

A breakdown of that is :

 

260,000 for the damage and 200,000 to the rep just for the inconvenience.

I am not a supporter of mayhem and insane behavior, generally. But, I have no sympathy for banks, insurance companies and alot of large corporations. None. Many are not responsible citizens. And there are likely alot of others who do not like them either. Apparently. Glad it wasn't me!

Or possibly couldn't get his yearly bank bank statement needed for his extension of stay printed on the same day at that branch and waiting a week for the BBK branch to get it from a high tech computerised banking system that will only issue yearly statements from BBK head office in Bangkok frustrating so he took his annoyance out on the shop front. Still at least he has saved his 200 baht now for the statement as it will not be needed as he will be deported ????

At the end of the video, he says give me my money Bangkok Bank, I want my <deleted> money. My guess is drunk or got a hold of some crazy pills. That and the overstay, I hope he enjoyed his stay in Thailand and his future stay in a Thai jail if he can't pay because I don't think he'll be returning anytime soon once he's gone.

What an ass. No fan of banks per se, but this kind of thing always makes it tougher for those of us that play by the rules. Don’t care what his issue is. Please stay in your own country and smash up your own banks!
